“A ROOM FELL SILENT AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES — NIKKI GLASER PAID TRIBUTE TO ROB REINER JUST ONE MONTH AFTER HIS DEATH, AND THE MOMENT BROKE THROUGH THE LAUGHTER” The night was built on jokes, glamour, and applause — until it suddenly wasn’t. Standing under the bright lights of the 2026 Golden Globes, Nikki Glaser paused mid-beat, her tone shifting in a way no one expected. What followed wasn’t a punchline, but a quiet, heartfelt tribute to Rob Reiner, delivered just one month after his passing. Witnesses say the room changed instantly. Smiles faded. Conversations stopped. Glaser spoke about legacy, kindness behind the scenes, and how Reiner shaped generations of storytellers without ever demanding the spotlight. Her voice tightened for just a second — long enough for everyone to feel it. Cameras caught actors blinking back tears, hands clasped tighter than before. It wasn’t long, and it wasn’t dramatic, but that was the power of it. In a ceremony known for spectacle, this was something rarer: a raw goodbye, spoken softly, that reminded everyone why stories — and the people who tell them — matter long after the curtain falls.

Nikki Glaser ensured the 2026 Golden Globes paid tribute to Rob Reiner with a subtle nod.

Host Glaser, 44, appeared onstage in the final moments of the 83rd annual Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 11 wearing a black baseball cap with “Spinal Tap” on it, in reference to the late filmmaker’s 1984 film This Is Spinal Tap.

“Well, that’s our show. This one went to 11,” she said, referencing one of the movie’s most famous moments between Reiner and costar Christopher Guest. “Thank you guys for an amazing night, and I hope we found the line between clever and stupid. A good Chalamet to you all, good night!”

Glaser’s nod to one of Reiner’s most beloved movies comes nearly one month after the director, 78, and his wife Michele, 70, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14. Their son Nick, 32, was charged in connection with their deaths.

Rob and Michele previously received a tribute from comedian Chelsea Handler when she hosted the 2026 Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, Jan. 4. During that ceremony, Handler described Rob as “the nicest guy in Hollywood.”

When Glaser spoke with USA Today prior to the Globes, she acknowledged that Handler knew Rob better than she did and was “a close friend of his.”

“I knew him, but not really well, and it’s delicate, because we don’t really have an In Memorium, so there’s not a whole section set aside to honor everyone we’ve lost. But I have something planned that I’m going to do in my own way to just acknowledge him and celebrate him in my own way,” she said.

“Not to linger on it too much because that’s what we’ve been doing for the past few weeks, but I just thought, if something happened to me and Rob Reiner was hosting a show, given our relationship, how would I want him to handle it? And I think I landed on something that I feel he would do for me too,” she said.
