“A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE”: WILLIAM’S SECRET STOP AT THEIR FIRST HIDDEN COTTAGE REVEALS A HEARTBREAKING TRIBUTE TO KATE’S STRENGTH With their 15th anniversary looming, Prince William has made a solo, deeply emotional return to the wind-swept shores of Anglesey—the place where he and Kate began their lives as newlyweds. The atmosphere shifted from a routine royal visit to something profoundly personal when William made an unannounced detour to the secluded cottage they once called home. Standing on the rugged cliffs where they spent their “most normal” years, the Prince was seen holding a small, weathered item that appeared to be a relic from their early days in Wales. Insiders reveal that William spent several moments in total silence, a rare display of raw vulnerability that left his security detail stunned. This quiet pilgrimage wasn’t just about nostalgia; it was a powerful, symbolic gesture aimed at Kate, honoring the incredible resilience she has shown over the past year. As he left the site, William’s final, private act at the shoreline has fans convinced that the 15th anniversary celebration will be the most meaningful one yet.

Prince William is making a sentimental stop ahead of his 15th anniversary with Kate Middleton.

On Tuesday, April 28, the Prince of Wales visited the RAF (Royal Air Force) Valley airbase as part of its 85th anniversary celebrations. The royal heir, 43, is the Royal Honorary Air Commodore of the RAF Valley base, and he spent three years stationed there while serving as a search and rescue pilot between 2010 and 2013.

Prince William, whose last visit to RAF Valley was in 2024, wore a camouflage uniform and hat for the occasion.

During the visit, William watched and inspected the 85th anniversary parade and presented the Prince of Wales award, which recognizes the best Qualified Flying Instructor. He also met with a group of women serving on the base, as well as the 202 Squadron, who provide mountain, maritime and search and rescue training.

The location holds extra-special significance for Prince William, who celebrates his 15th anniversary with Princess Kate on Wednesday, April 29.

William and Kate, 44, previously lived in a rented home near the RAF Valley base in Anglesey, Wales, for three years, including before and after their 2011 wedding. They even enjoyed a brief “mini-honeymoon” in the country after their wedding, before embarking on a longer getaway to the Seychelles in May 2011.

The couple’s connection to Wales grew when King Charles named his eldest son and daughter-in-law as the new Prince and Princess of Wales upon his accession to the throne in 2022.

Just three days after Queen Elizabeth’s death, Prince William spoke to the leading politician in Wales, First Minister Mark Drakeford, in their first conversation since he and Kate were made Prince and Princess of Wales. Prince William said he and Kate have a “deep affection for Wales,” as it was the setting for so many of their personal milestones. During his conversation, William also vowed to serve the people of Wales “with humility and great respect.”

Last year, the Prince and Princess of Wales also marked their anniversary in a place that holds significance. They spent the day in Scotland, the same country where they met. The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, as they are called in Scotland, had an official royal outing in the town of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull on April 29, 2025.

Prince William’s outing in Wales came amid his father King Charles’ state visit to the United States. The monarch and Queen Camilla touched down in Maryland on Monday, April 27, and their first stops took them to Washington, D.C. Following a White House welcome with President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, the royal couple greeted some of the over 600 attendees at a garden party at the British Ambassador’s residence.
