The 86-year-old actor was hospitalized in Kauai, though the nature of the incident was not immediately revealed.

Chuck died after news broke that he suffered a medical emergency that landed him in the hospital, according to TMZ.

Days earlier, he shared a final Instagram post marking his birthday.

The actor’s family confirmed his death in a social media statement.

“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning,” the statement, posted on his Instagram, began.

“While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace.

“To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family.”

The family continued, “He lived life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.

“While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him.

“We know many of you heard about his recent hospitalization, and we are truly grateful for the prayers and support you sent his way.

“As we grieve this loss, we kindly ask for privacy for our family during this time. Thank you for loving him with us.”

The medical emergency occurred sometime within 24 hours of the news being announced.

It was initially reported that the actor, known for his roles in Walker, Texas Ranger, The Way of the Dragon, The Expendables, and more, was in good spirits following the incident.

The medical emergency reportedly happened suddenly and unexpectedly, as the outlet reported that earlier in the week Chuck was training in Hawaii with friends.

A friend of the star reported that he spoke with the star on the phone, laughing and joking.

Chuck celebrated his 86th birthday on March 10.

He shared video of himself sparring with a trainer, showing his good health and physical fitness.

The actor’s star rose in the 70s, when he appeared alongside Bruce Lee in Way of the Dragon.

He went on to star in Missing in Action and The Delta Force, both of which were wildly successful.

Chuck’s career saw a resurgence in the 2000s after “Chuck Norris Facts” memes became popular, exaggerating his physical prowess and toughness.

While he withdrew from the spotlight some in recent years, he has maintained a dedicated following online.

Supporters took to in internet following his death to send well wishes.

“Rest easy, Chuck! We lost an American legend today,” one fan wrote.

Another posted, “We’ll miss you Chuck Norris.”

“Chuck Norris can’t die. He doesn’t fear the Reaper, but the Reaper definitely fears Chuck Norris,” a third penned.

A fourth jokingly wrote, “Uhhhh nice try TMZ, April Fools is a week and a half away. Chuck Norris can’t die, Death is too afraid to cross him.”
