Heartfelt tributes to ‘amazing’ MoD cop killed in horror motorbike crash on way back from work

TRIBUTES have flooded in for a Ministry of Defence cop who was killed in a horror motorbike crash.
PC Mark Chester died following a tragic accident on his way home from work on May 2 in Portsmouth.
He leaves behind his widow Ally and children Jack, aged 6 and Kit, aged 3.
Chester, in his 30s, was posted with the MDP Portsmouth Marine Unit and previously worked for Surrey Police.
A former colleague said: “Mark was an amazing man and friend to many.
“Portsmouth is much poorer without him now.”
Darren Pemble, Chair of Surrey Police Federation, said: “Mark was well liked and had a great sense of humour.
“He was a good police officer.
“All at Surrey Police Federation offer Mark’s family our support and condolences.”
A GoFundMe appeal has so far raised nearly £15,000 to help support his wife and children following his death.
It read: “Tragically, Mark lost his life in a motorbike accident on his way home from work.
“His sudden passing has left his wife and children facing an unimaginable loss.
“Mark was known for his humour and his caring nature — someone who could always make people laugh and who looked out for others.
“He loved sharing a good GIF and bringing laughter into everyday moments, something many of us will always remember him for.”
Earlier this month, following the fatal smash, cops were appealing for witnesses to come forward.
They said the crash happened at around 7.15am in Kettering Terrace, just off Mile End Road in Portsmouth.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police said: “As part of our investigation into this collision, we would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened and anyone with dash cam footage that has not already spoken to us.
“If you have any information, please call 101 quoting reference 44260205823.”
