‘Frankenstein’s Jacob Elordi Is Locked in a Doomed Romance With Margot Robbie in New ‘Wuthering Heights’ Trailer

Out on the wily, windy moors, Warner Bros. has just released the first trailer for Emerald Fennell‘s new vision of Wuthering Heights. The doomed romance between Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi) and Catherine (Margot Robbie) takes center stage in the lavishly-shot trailer, as does the music of Charli XCX, who will soundtrack the film. Wuthering Heights will be released in theaters on February 13, 2026.
In the new trailer, Elordi is still in Gothic romance mode, fresh from donning the elaborate prosthetics of Guillermo del Toro‘s Frankenstein. He’s starring as Heathcliff, the ultimate Byronic hero of Emily Brontë‘s Wuthering Heights. He’s engaged in what the trailer dubs “the greatest love story of all time” with Catherine (Robbie), his adopted sister. Bodices are ripped, impassioned declarations are made on the moors, and horses are ridden off into the blazing sunset over the course of the trailer, which offers a tease to would-be moviegoers on next year’s Valentine’s Day. Just be warned, young lovers: Unless Fennell (Saltburn) has made some significant alterations to the source material, this one isn’t going to have a happy ending.
What Is ‘Wuthering Heights’ About?
The titular Wuthering Heights is a remote farmhouse on the windswept Yorkshire moors. It’s the home of the Earnshaw family; they have two children of their own, Catherine and Hindley, and the foundling orphan, Heathcliff. While Catherine is fond of the newcomer, Hindley resents him for the favoritism his father shows him; when Hindley comes of age and becomes the master of Wuthering Heights, he makes Heathcliff into his much-abused servant. Catherine loves Heathcliff, but because of his low social status, becomes engaged to their neighbor, Edgar, instead. Eventually, Heathcliff leaves and makes his fortune, subsequently taking Edgar’s sister Isabella as his wife to stoke Catherine’s jealousy. Cruelty, bitterness, and love soon collide in one of the most beloved English-language novels of all time.
Wuthering Heights has been filmed many times. Notable productions include a 1939 production with Merle Oberon, Laurence Olivier, and David Niven; a 1992 film with Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes; and a 2009 miniseries with Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley. This version of Wuthering Heights was written and directed by Fennell; it is her third feature, after Promising Young Woman and Saltburn. It also stars Hong Chau (The Whale), Shazad Latif (Nautilus), and Alison Oliver (Task).
Wuthering Heights will be released in theaters on February 13, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
