Moment murderer confesses to cop beside motorway he killed ex-girlfriend after suffocating her with tape around face
THIS is the moment a murderer who suffocated his ex-girlfriend sobs to cops on the side of a motorway and admits “I’ve killed my girlfriend”.
Norbert Maiksner, 49, smothered Frances Obiefuleh, 45, to death with tape at her home in Havant, Hampshire, the day after they broke up.
Maiksner initially fled the scene after wrapping blue tape around “devoted mother” Frances’ face on April 16 last year.
The sick killer was later caught wandering along the hard shoulder of the M40 near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, the following morning.
Bodycam footage has since emerged of the twisted murderer sobbing on the side of the motorway, before telling a traffic officer to call the police.
Confessing to his crimes, Maiksner says: “You will need to call the police… I’ve killed my girlfriend.”
Following his admission, cops then searched Frances’ home, where they found her dead with tape around her head.
Once he was arrested by cops, the killer told officers he was “the devil” and that he “didn’t deserve to live”.
Maiksner was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 24 years behind bars this week after he was found guilty of Frances’ murder.
He was also convicted of neglect of a child following a two-week trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.
Maiksner did not attend his trial and it went ahead in his absence.
The court heard how Maiksner killed his ex-partner by obstructing her airway, with a post-mortem confirming she died after being smothered.
Horrifying DNA evidence also revealed the mum fought desperately for her life as she was attacked.
Prosecutors said scratches found on Maiksner’s body were likely inflicted by Frances in her final moments as she tried to defend herself.
Witnesses reported hearing loud bangs coming from the house at around 10pm on the night of the chilling murder.
Analysis of CCTV footage later helped cops piece together the killer’s movements before and after the attack.
During police interviews, he refused to answer questions about Frances’ death – despite his earlier confession at the roadside.
At one point, it was heard the killer “nodded off” while being questioned.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “During his trial the court heard that Maiksner had told officers that he had killed Frances…
“… [he] stated that it was all a dream and that he wanted to wake up.”
Frances’ devastated family paid an emotional tribute through the force, saying her “bright light has been cruelly dimmed”.
It read: “Frances was kind, intelligent, and resourceful – a caring and deeply loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
“She was a devoted mother and beautiful in every sense of the word.
“Someone we love has been cruelly taken from us, and it has changed our lives forever. We have lost a truly beautiful soul.
“We are left shaken, heartbroken, and still trying to process the grief and shock of losing Frances.”
Jane Rahman, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “Frances Obiefuleh’s life was taken in the place she should have felt safest – her own home.
“A family has now been left heartbroken following a senseless act of violence at the hands of her ex-partner.
“Norbert Maiksner was found guilty after our prosecutors worked with police to provide the jury with a clear timeline of events.
