Netflix Lands Perfect ‘Heartland’ Replacement After Removing the 18-Season Series

Even though most TV shows these days tend to roll out a few episodes and end their run in about three or four seasons, viewers still highly value a story that can be binge-watched for hours and even days. Some of Netflix subscribers were pretty happy with the 17 seasons of Heartland they had at their disposal to watch, but that’s about to change. With the streamer planning to remove the full series from the catalog, it’s time to find a similar show that might serve as a replacement, and A Thousand Tomorrows seems like the perfect candidate.
Of course, you can’t possibly compare A Thousand Tomorrows with Heartland in terms of hours to stream. While the latter has roughly 280 episodes for you to delve into, the former is a six-episode miniseries that you can binge in one sitting. However, both shows have thematic similarities that viewers will certainly enjoy. So, at least for one weekend, you can keep your mind busy while you decide which multiple-season series will be the actual substitute for Heartland.

A Thousand Tomorrows tells the story of Cody Gunner (Colin Ford), a bull rider who is pretty much a legend among the other professionals of his segment. The secret to his success: anger. His equally famous bull-riding father abandoned the family when Cody was just 11 years old. Having lived most of his life with a wall pulled up around him, Cody starts to change when he meets Ali (Rose Reid), a Christian woman who starts to teach him to see the world through another lens.
Is ‘A Thousand Tomorrows’ Based on a Book?

A Thousand Tomorrows had already established itself as a powerful title before making it to the television screen. The series is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by author Karen Kingsbury. The author herself revealed that she was an executive producer on the series and was writing episodes along with Tyler Russell (Someone Like You). Back when the series was announced, Kingsbury announced that the partnership that brought A Thousand Tomorrows to life is one that she hopes “will continue for many, many years.”
Aside from Ford and Reid, the cast of A Thousand Tomorrows also features Kate Easton (When They See Us), K.C. Clyde (Landman), Ck Bolado (Matlock), James Healy Jr. (The Cleaning Lady), and James Austin Kerr (Reagan).
