“SHE NEVER SAW HIM COMING”: TRAGIC FINAL MOMENTS OF JOGGER, 27, STRUCK BY POLICE CRUISER ON WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD The evening silence of a quiet residential street was shattered by the rhythmic thud of a runner’s pace, suddenly eclipsed by the roar of an engine pushed to its absolute limit. A 27-year-old woman, in the middle of a routine sunset jog, stepped into the crosswalk just as a police cruiser—responding to an emergency at a staggering 60mph—veered onto the wrong side of the road to bypass traffic. The cinematic blur of flashing blue lights was the only warning before the devastating impact that sent a shockwave through the local community. Witnesses described a heart-stopping scene of chaos as the officer, realizing the gravity of the collision, made a frantic, unscripted move that left onlookers in a state of stunned disbelief. The most haunting detail emerged from the dashboard camera footage, capturing a split-second decision made by the jogger just moments before the crash. This single, instinctive action has since become a focal point of the investigation, leaving the victim’s family and the entire city demanding answers about the high-speed pursuit that ended a life far too soon.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard Thames Valley Police officer was travelling on the wrong side of the road at 60mph in a 40mph zone.

Duthie’s view was obstructed by a van as teaching assistant Kimberley crossed the road, it was said.

Tragically, she could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene in April 2021.

Duthie, 41, who is charged with causing death by careless driving, elected for his case to be heard by a judge and jury at a crown court.

He was released on unconditional bail ahead of his next appearance at the Old Bailey on May 26.

In October 2022, an inquest jury concluded her death was the result of a road-traffic collision.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct reinvestigated the crash after “new evidence” emerged at the inquest.

Kimberley’s parents, Kevin and Liane Cameron, previously described her as a “much loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, and niece”.

They added: “She was a truly remarkable, independent young woman, who, despite having Type 1 diabetes lived every day to the full and never let it define who she was.

“She was a passionate cyclist and runner who aspired to be a role model to all diabetics by pushing and challenging her physical limits daily.

“Kimberley was always positive, full of joy and her smile lit up every room she entered. She touched many hearts and will be truly missed by her family, friends, and work colleagues. We are incredibly proud of the woman she became.

“On behalf of all of the family, we would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to all of the emergency services, doctors and members of the public who tried to save and comfort Kimberley in the moments before she passed away. It is a comfort to know that she was not alone.”
