‘Dark Winds’ Sets Season 4 Release Date, Zahn McClarnon Returns With an Unsolved Mystery in Teaser Trailer

Lt. Joe Leaphorn has discovered his latest case in the first-look teaser for Season 4 of AMC and AMC+’s thriller series “Dark Winds,” returning on Feb. 15, 2026. The new season will consist of eight hour-long episodes.

Based on the “Leaphorn & Chee” book series and adapted by Graham Roland, “Dark Winds” takes place in the 1970s and centers on members of the Navajo Tribal Police as they solve mysteries on their reservation, which is surrounded by violent crimes.

Rounding out the cast are Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chee, Jessica Matten as Bernadette Manuelito and Deanna Allison as Emma Leaphorn.

The fourth season will focus on “the search for a missing Navajo girl, which takes Leaphorn, Chee and Manuelito from the safety of the Navajo Nation to the gritty terrain of 1970s Los Angeles in a race against the clock to save her from an obsessive killer with ties to organized crime,” the official description reads.

Season 4 will also introduce a roster of new cast members including including Franka Potente as Irene Vaggan, Isabel DeRoy-Olson as Billie Tsosie, Chaske Spencer as Sonny, Luke Barnett as FBI Special Agent Toby Shaw and Titus Welliver as Dominic McNair.

A. Martinez is also set to return in Season 4 as Scarborough Police Department Acting Chief Gordo Sena.

John Wirth serves as showrunner. The series is executive produced by the late Robert Redford, Martin, Roland, Wirth, McClarnon, Chris Eyre, Tina Elmo, Jim Chory, Thomas Brady, Max Hurwitz, Vince Gerardis and Anne Hillerman.
