The Pitt Season 2 Cast Adds Breaking Bad Star & 3 Others As New Doctors & Patients
HBO’s The Pitt has added four new major stars to its cast ahead of the medical drama’s second season, including a recurring star in Breaking Bad. After a stellar and wildly popular first season, The Pitt season 2 is a very highly-anticipated upcoming show. There has already been speculation about which characters will return in The Pitt season 2 and how the cast of The Pitt will expand, even just months after the ending of The Pitt season 1. Now, a new report has confirmed that The Pitt will be adding new doctors, patients, and nurses – along with quite a bit of acting talent – in season 2.
A new report from Deadline confirmed that Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, and Lucas Iverson have all been cast in new roles for The Pitt season 2. Baker, known for playing Skinny Pete on Breaking Bad and El Camino, will play an unhoused man named Troy who is a patient at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Choi (Insatiable) will play Joy, a third-year medical student with “strong boundaries” and a “macabre” knowledge of medicine. Hollard (Trauma) will play a new nurse at the hospital. Iverson will play James, a fourth-year medical student. Deadline also noted that these brief descriptions of the characters are subject to change.
What The Pitt’s New Doctors, Nurse, & Patient Mean For Season 2
The Pitt’s Scope Is Expanding & It’s Continuing To Take Chances On Young Actors
All four of the new actors tied to The Pitt season 2 prove one thing: the medical drama is only going to get bigger and more ambitious. These new actors are a hint that The Pitt is going to add even more stories and character dynamics into its overarching narrative. It’s also a sign that The Pitt season 2 will still get a chance to have some of the “fish out of water” dynamics the first season had, as the new residents and nurses will likely still be finding their footing in the ER.
It’s also worth noting that many of the new actors added to the cast of The Pitt season 2 are relatively unknown. Charles Baker has already proven himself in Breaking Bad and Irene Choi has highlighted her talents in shows like Community, but Laëtitia Hollard and Lucas Iverson have mostly only had experience with stage plays prior to The Pitt. That could end up paying off in dividends, though: it’s the same strategy The Pitt used with Patrick Ball, who was mostly known for theater acting, and Dr. Langdon is one of the best characters on The Pitt.
Our Take On The Pitt’s Newest Actors & Their Potential Storylines
The Pitt Season 2’s New Cast Members Already Seem Fascinating & Could Play Off Some Season 1 Setups
I am, admittedly, a big fan of The Pitt, but this casting news would be encouraging even if I wasn’t. Baker and Choi are already proven actors who will add even more talent to The Pitt season 2, and Hollard and Iverson have a lot of potential to be standout characters in their own right. I’m very excited to see how these new characters fit into the already complicated web of relationships between the established characters of The Pitt, and I’m confident the show can blend them into the story seamlessly.
I’m also particularly excited for Charles Baker’s new role as Troy, an unhoused man. The Pitt has always had a lot of societal critiques to dole out, and it’s encouraging to know that the way unhoused people are treated is going to be a focus again in season 2. It also gives me hope that Whitaker’s (Gerran Howell) story about joining PTMC’s street team won’t go unresolved, as I’d really like to see his character developed further. In short, the new cast members added to The Pitt season 2 could be a very good sign of things to come.
