The silence in the studio wasn’t just dramatic—nerves were physically breaking as a “million-dollar certainty” evaporated into a total psychological meltdown. 💸🤐 It’s being called the most “deceptive” final question in the history of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. On paper, the prompt looked like a gift—the kind of “easy” trivia you’d expect in the first five minutes of the game. But as the confetti cannons waited and the lights turned a predatory red, the player’s face went from a confident smile to a mask of pure “intellectual paralysis.” What makes this moment so haunting isn’t just the money at stake; it’s the way a simple, everyday fact can suddenly become a “cognitive black hole” under the pressure of the hot seat. Viewers at home were screaming the answer at their screens, yet watching a brilliant mind lose its grip on reality in real-time has sparked a massive debate online: Was it a “brain fart” for the ages, or was the question designed with a “hidden trap” that only reveals itself when you have everything to lose?

Andrew, a translator from Market Harborough flew through the fastest buzzer question and made it comfortably to the famous chair opposite host Jeremy Clarkson.

Andrew hoped to win enough money to take his family to Disneyland – and he certainly did that with a whopping £500K.

However, he sadly missed out on being the show’s next millionaire.

Having reached the million-pound-question, Jeremy asked: “Which of these is an EGOT winner, meaning they have won each of the four major entertainment awards – an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.

The choices were A) Lin-Manuel Miranda, B) Cher, C) Andrew Lloyd Webber or D) Bette Midler.

In tense scenes Andrew used his ‘ask the audience’ lifeline, but they said it was either Bette Midler or Andrew Lloyd Webber.

He said: “I’m struggling to think what Andrew Lloyd Webber won an Oscar for to be honest.”

However, Andrew explained there was no chance of him risking £500,000.

He said: “I will very, very gratefully take my half a million pounds please which sounds unbelievable. And that is my final answer.”

Jeremy replied: “It gives me great pleasure to say this, Andrew Franklin you are leaving here with your magnificently named wife, Frankie, with half a million pounds.”

Andrew then revealed he would have chosen A) Lin-Manuel Miranda if he had answered the question.

The TV host replied: “If you had done that you would have lost £375k.”

Jeremy then revealed the correct answer was the man he’s going on holiday with next month – C) Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The composer won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1996 for “You Must Love Me” from Evita.

He has won three Grammy Awards during his career – in 1981 he bagged Best Cast Show Album for Evita, in 1984 he was given the same award for Cats, and in 1986 he won Best Contemporary Composition for “Requiem”.

In 2018, he won an Outstanding Variety Special for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert at the Emmys.

And Lloyd Webber has won an incredible eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical for The Phantom of the Opera in 1988, and this year the award for Best Revival of a Musical for Cats: The Jellicle Ball.

Fans of the show flocked to social media and one said: “Knew that was Lloyd-Webber.

“That’s the second straight million pound question where I’ve personally known the answer.”

Another wrote: “I also knew it was Andrew Lloyd Weber. That question and the Suez one seemed a bit easy for the end.”

While a third said: “One of the very few Million Pound Questions that I did know.”
