THE CHOSEN has spent eight years building toward the cross, and Season 6 will finally take viewers there.

“Everyone knows the basics of this part of the story, but not everyone knows the ‘why’ of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours,” series creator and executive producer Dallas Jenkins said. “We realized this not only deserved a season of television but a standalone full-length theatrical event as well.”

The six streaming episodes premiere exclusively on Prime Video on Nov. 15, 2026, with three episodes dropping at once. Episode 4 follows Nov. 22, Episode 5 arrives Nov. 29 and Episode 6 streams Dec. 6.

The story’s finale will arrive separately as a standalone global theatrical event in spring 2027. Prime Video will carry the new season in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, sub-Saharan Africa, the UK and Latin America, while the team has not announced an official date for its arrival on THE CHOSEN app.

Season 6 unfolds across the final 24 hours of Jesus’ earthly life. The story follows His arrest, trials and journey to the cross through the disciples who love Him, the authorities who condemn Him and a city spinning into chaos.

The first official teaser opens quietly, with Mary looking at her Son, before racing through torch-lit arrests, scattered followers and Jesus in chains. By Aug. 4, the 90-second glimpse had drawn more than 1.5 million YouTube views — an early sign that viewers are ready, even if they are not emotionally prepared.

Actor Noah James, who plays Andrew, told the Deseret News that reading the scripts left him on his couch “weeping” for two days.

“It’s going to be brutal, but it will be surprising,” James said. “And I think at the end of the day, it could be some people’s favorite season.”

Actor Abe Bueno-Jallad, who plays Big James, said there is “not a casual conversation in any scene,” while actress Vanessa Benavente, who plays Mother Mary, called the pace “relentless.” Actor Jordan Walker Ross, who plays Little James, promised that amid the heartbreak, “there is hope, there is light, [and] it’s all coming from a place of love.”

Actor Jonathan Roumie returns as Jesus, with Shahar Isaac as Peter, Paras Patel as Matthew, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene and Luke Dimyan as Judas. The announced cast also includes Richard Fancy as Caiaphas, Paul Ben-Victor as King Herod and Andrew James Allen as Pontius Pilate.

Prime Video puts a show born outside the traditional studio system on one of the world’s largest streaming platforms. Amazon MGM Studios’ 2025 agreement with Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios includes streaming and theatrical rights to Seasons 6 and 7, plus a first look at future projects, but Jenkins said he retained complete creative control.

The deal does not end THE CHOSEN’s free-access mission. Prime Video receives an exclusive window before new episodes can move to THE CHOSEN app, where the series eventually streams free.

The audience is already enormous. More than 300 million people have watched THE CHOSEN, and viewers across more than 175 countries have generated nearly 1 billion episode views, according to a 2026 report based on interviews with the show’s team.

Season 1 set a Guinness World Records mark as the most-translated season of a streaming series when the team released it in 125 languages. The team wants to reach 600 languages, enough to make the story accessible to 95% of the world’s population.

Movieguide® has celebrated THE CHOSEN along the way. Roumie won the Grace Award for Television at the 2020 Movieguide® Awards for Season 1’s “I Am He,” while the Season 3 theatrical premiere won the 2023 Epiphany Prize® for Inspiring Movies.

Most recently, THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER — PART 2 took home the 2026 Epiphany Prize® for Inspiring Movies, giving Season 6 one more high bar to clear.

Season 6 ends at the cross. The seventh and final season will tell the story of the Resurrection, though the team has not announced a release date.
