BLACKPINK Jennie’s Live Vocals Draw Major Ridicule

BLACKPINK member Jennie has gone viral on social media for her live vocals, and not for good reasons.

On March 22, Jennie took the stage at Complex Live in Hong Kong to perform a 10-song solo set, marking yet another achievement as a soloist. During the performance, she also debuted the live performance of “Dracula,” the Tame Impala song she lent her vocals to recently.
Given how long-awaited this performance was, clips of Jennie singing “Dracula” live soon surfaced all across social media. However, the reaction was unfavorable. Jennie’s voice, though obviously live, cracked up mid-singing, and she sounded shaky throughout the iconic line, “My friends are saying, ‘Shut up, Jennie, just get in the car’/ I just wanna be right where you are.”
The BLACKPINK member has received harsh criticism for this live vocal moment, with some questioning her eligibility to be a professional artist altogether.

Needless to say, fans have defended the singer, arguing that every artist has off days and live singing can often be unpredictable.
Meanwhile, this same performance has been hit with more criticism over Jennie’s stage presence.
