In the clip, Ian shows how fast she can tie her hair in a ponytail during a variety show. The silly moment makes the crowd break into laughter.

The video sparked backlash for being “corny.” Many took it to the next level to insult Koreans’ sense of humor on entertainment shows as a whole.

However, many came to Ian’s defense, stating that it’s simply a funny video. Many also assumed the hate was rooted in misogyny and even xenophobia.

I hate this generation that finds everything cringey. The girl is young and in her silly phase, and she’s super pretty and fun. This is the third time people have criticized her just for going viral because of her personality 🤷🏽‍♀️ Then they complain that new idols are cold or like robots.
