Knots Landing legend Donna Mills just set the internet ablaze with a razor-sharp response to a rude netizen who claimed she wears “too much makeup for her age.” Instead of staying silent, the 85-year-old icon appeared looking incredibly cool in a leather jacket and high-glam makeup, delivering a defiant message: “Style doesn’t have an expiration date!” She even humorously transformed into a “traditional granny” with a bun and wire-rimmed glasses, effectively mocking her critic by asking: “Did you want me to look like this?”

Donna Mills is sending a message to a rude social media commenter.

The Knots Landing alum, 85, shared an Instagram Reel on Sunday, April 5, to respond to a comment about her appearance. “You wear too much makeup for your age,” an Instagram user told her.

In a video response to the comment, Mills — wearing a black leather jacket, a lacy tank top, blue jeans and a full-glam makeup and hair look — jokes that she “didn’t get the memo.”

The clip then cuts to Mills dressed as a cartoonishly stereotypical grandmother — with a gray bun, ruffled blouse, wire-rimmed glasses and a string of pearls — as she quips, “Did you want me to look like this?”

”Sorry, not sorry. I like the way I look. This is my style, and style doesn’t have an expiration date,” she concludes the video, adding in the caption: “I said what I said đŸ€ #style #aging #makeup #clapback #armchairwarrior.”

Mills has long been known for her glamorous makeup looks, spanning back to her time on Knots Landing, on which she starred as Abby Cunningham for nine seasons from 1980 to 1989. Her character was a divorcee living among four couples in a cul-de-sac in a coastal Los Angeles suburb.

The actress was widely known to do her own makeup, which often featured a cool-toned smokey eye that enhanced her eyelids and made her blue eyes pop, as well as a bright undereye, complimentary blush and some bright shades of pink lipstick.

Speaking at the Southfork Experience: Knots Landing Panel event in August, Mills spoke about how she received so many requests from fans to share her makeup process that she created a pioneering tutorial that was eventually distributed by Universal Pictures.

“People kept writing to me. At that time, you couldn’t text or do any of that stuff,” Mills said at the event. “But they were writing to me and saying, ‘Tell me how you do your eye makeup. I need to know how you do your eye makeup and everything.’ “

She continued, “So I said, why don’t I just do a video about it and show them? And so I did. I got a whole production crew. I shot at my house. All on my own dime. And then I thought, I can’t distribute it. I don’t have the wherewithal to do that, so I took it to Universal and they bought it and they distributed it and it went platinum.”

As for her on-screen look for the hit soap, Mills shared that she often opted not to wear waterproof mascara — just so that any emotional scenes could have a stronger look.

“Whenever I had to cry, I always used non-waterproof mascara because the best thing is the mascara running down your face,” she said. “You got to have that.”
