Emerald Fennell knows how to do provocative.

Speaking to Variety on Wednesday, Jan. 28, the writer-director, 40, behind 2023’s Saltburn and the upcoming Wuthering Heights, shared what her first steamy “visual” was for the film after that infamous bathtub scene.

“It was a similar one,” Fennell said in a red carpet interview during the world premiere of her adaptation of the 1847 novel by Emily Brontë, which stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.

She added, “I probably can’t spoil it, but something happens on a rock.” Before the conversation ended, Fennell teased, “I think people will know.”

In the buzzed about Saltburn scene, Barry Keoghan’s character Oliver spies on Elordi’s character Felix as he bathes for the evening. After watching his friend’s moment of intimacy, Oliver then drinks the leftover bathwater as it flows down the drain after Felix leaves.

Fennell spoke to PEOPLE in November 2023 about the moment, calling it “the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life … And I’m saying that anyone else is safe to feel that.”

“I’m interested in how it makes you feel. Did you feel something you’ve never felt before in a movie? And if that’s the case, then the movie is effective, and it’s worked, and that’s what we wanted to do,” the Oscar winner continued.

Additionally, she said it was her intention to bring out certain feelings while telling the story of Oliver’s fixation with Felix as he stayed with him and his wealthy family during a 2007 summer.

“We wanted to present the feeling of that locust love: impossible, carnivorous, forever, impossible vampire love. I think that that is what we did and every single person making this film did the most unbelievable job,” she added.

Three years later, the sexy has carried over to one of Fennell’s latest projects, with Robbie, 35, explaining on Jimmy Kimmel Live! how her friend group celebrated her portrayal by throwing her a Wuthering Heights-themed bachelorette party with a “Victorian slutty” theme as they had their own screening.

“I kind of thought it was a joke at first… I was like, ‘Wait, are we really gonna have a fake bachelorette for an imaginary character?’ And they were like, ‘Yes, absolutely,’” the Barbie actress said on the Monday, Jan. 26 episode of the late-night talk show.

“There was a mood board. I was dressed in white corsets and lace, and they’re all dressed like Mob Wives in black lace and corsets,” Robbie recalled.

Later in the conversation, she also joked about her friends falling for Elordi, which caused them to “miss most of the movie.”

“Honestly, I was like, if he walked in right now, I think they would eat him. So it was safer that he wasn’t there,” she quipped.
