‘Back to the Future’ actor dies. ‘He died the way he lived, on his terms.’

Matt Clark, the veteran character actor who appeared in popular films and television shows across a 50-year career, has died. He was 89.
Clark, best known for playing bartender Chester in “Back to the Future Part III,” died Sunday at his home in Austin, Texas, from complications after back surgery, according to TMZ.
Clark’s family told TMZ that he was an “actor’s actor” who loved and respected the job but was not concerned with fame. The family added that “he died the way he lived, on his terms.”
The Washington D.C. native’s final screen role came in the 2014 film “A Million Ways to Die in the West.”
Clark’s family described the role as “a fitting farewell to the genre he had inhabited for most of his career; more than thirty Westerns among the more than fifty feature films he acted in,” according to Fox News.

Clark married three times throughout his life and is survived by his third wife, Sharon Mays, and his daughter, Aimee.
