Macaulay Culkin Talks About ‘Home Alone’ Accident That Left Him With A Permanent Scar

Macaulay Culkin is scarred from his time on “Home Alone.”

The actor opened up about the incident that left him with a permanent mark during the “A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin” event on Saturday, which celebrated 35 years since the Christmas classic hit theaters.

Culkin said that his co-star Joe Pesci “bit me during rehearsal” before filming even started.

“The thing you have to remember also, I’m not really on screen with Joe and Dan [Stern] a lot of the movie. They’re off doing everything,” Culkin said, via People magazine. “I was just talking to the ether.”

“So I didn’t really know [Pesci] all that well. And so this is one of the last days of filming, and I’m hung up there, so vulnerable — 9, not just a regular 9-year-old,” Culkin said, recalling a memorable scene from the movie where he comes face-to-face with the intruders, and Pesci threatens to bite off his fingers.

“He said, ‘I’m [going to bite] these fingers off one at a time,’ and then sank his teeth into my finger,” Culkin said. “I was like, ‘ahhh!’”

“You should have seen his face because he took this tough guy and was like ‘Oooh,’ because he knew he bit a 9-year-old. A 9-year-old coworker. Get HR involved,” Culkin quipped, before adding that Pesci apologized.

“It actually left a mark. It’s 35 years later, I still have this little divot right there,” the actor shared. “So yeah, he gave me a souvenir. It’s a nice story to regale you guys with. It’s worth it now, but back then it was just like, who is this creep?”

Culkin has opened up about the injury before, telling Conan O’Brien in 2004 that the actor “broke the skin and everything!”

“I got really mad at him. I was like, ‘I don’t care how many Oscars you have! You’re biting a 9-year-old, what the heck’s wrong with you?’” he said.

Pesci himself later injured himself on the filming of “Home Alone 2” while attempting to pull off a fiery stunt.

“In addition to the expected bumps, bruises, and general pains that you would associate with that particular type of physical humor, I did sustain serious burns to the top of my head during the scene where Harry’s hat is set on fire,” Pesci told People magazine during an interview back in 2022.
