Sadie Sink Reveals Her “Hot Take” On Whether Eleven Is Alive Or Dead In Stranger Things Ending Debate

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 5.
Stranger Things’ final episode aired on Netflix on December 31, but the fate of Millie Bobby Brown’s character Eleven has been widely debated, and Brown’s co-star Sadie Sink has just shared her “hot take.”
During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sink spoke about her character Max Mayfield’s key moments during season 5, but also on the hugely debated topic of whether Eleven survived the destruction of the Upside Down or if Mike Wheeler’s (Finn Wolfhard) theory is accurate:
“I think she’s dead, I don’t know. Is that like a hot take or something? I think Mike’s story is just one last story, and then they say goodbye to childhood. But that’s just one final tale. And that’s it. I think it’s just like a coping thing.”

Eleven’s death during the final episode of Stranger Things has caused worldwide heartbreak, but also gave a glimmer of hope to fans due to Mike’s theory of her sister Kali providing an illusion, and gave Eleven a chance to escape the military without being seen.
In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, creators Matt and Ross Duffer gave another glimmer of hope when they stated that Brown and they are the only ones who know the true fate of Eleven, and the actress was advised to keep it a secret even from her best friend and co-star, Noah Schnapp:
“Ross and I know, and we were just talking to Millie about it, but I think it takes away the power of the ending if you tell people what you were thinking as you were writing it.”

One of the main reasons to keep her fate hidden could be due to potential plans for the character as Eleven sets off on a new adventure away from Hawkins. A spin-off focused on Eleven wouldn’t be completely out of the question, as the Duffer Brothers have revealed plans for at least one spin-off and an animated series to be released on Netflix.
Fans will get an inside look into the final chapter of Stranger Things in Netflix’s documentary One Last Chapter, set to release on December 12, which could shed some insight into Eleven’s fate as well as the final moments between the cast and crew.
