Hudson Williams is hitting the gym in hopes of growing a “bigger butt.”
In a new video interview with Men’s Health, published Wednesday, Jan. 14, the 24-year-old actor gave a close-up look at his workout routine for Heated Rivalry, the steamy HBO Max series based on the 2019 Rachel Reid novel of the same name.
In the clip, Williams said he’s been in the gym since he was 6 years old, typically doing a full-body workout for an hour, about 3 to 4 times a week.
He added that some of his preferred exercises when he’s training for the show include Bulgarian split squats, dragon flags, overhead triceps extensions, cable rows and lying dumbbell curls.
Williams explained that Heated Rivalry showrunner Jacob Tierney initially told him that his character should “look like you eat pasta” because hockey players typically look more “wiry strong,” or “look-like-they-drink-beer strong.”
However, the Canadian actor saw that his co-stars “look like underwear models” and decided to switch gears.
“I want to get bigger, juicier, thicker — I want to get big ass shoulders,” he said. “I want to put on 10 pounds of muscle.”
Williams admitted that his ultimate goal is to look like his co-star Connor Storrie. “I want to get as big as he was in the first season,” he said.
Additionally, Williams said he wants to focus on growing his glutes, which get a lot of screentime on the show.
“We got an M.O. to upkeep,” he said. “So I want to keep this butt and get a bigger butt as well.”
“I’m OK talking about my butt, but poor Connor Storrie, who has the fattest butt I’ve ever seen on a man, I’m sure just wants to stop talking about his beautiful cheeks,” he quipped.
Heated Rivalry follows rival hockey players Ilya Rozanov (Storrie) and Shane Hollander (Williams) who can’t escape their chemistry over the course of several years of their careers.
The season one finale has already aired, but Canadian streaming service Crave recently announced a second season will follow after the show’s success in the United States.
