The first volume of Stranger Things season five has finally landed on Netflix, following a tantalising final trailer. The new series is packed with unexpected twists and turns, with Hawkins now under military lockdown in the aftermath of the dramatic season four finale, reports the Mirror.

Our favourite group of friends, including Eleven (portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown), are back in action, desperately trying to locate Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), who is hiding in the Upside Down. The stakes are high as things heat up in the concluding season of Stranger Things.

While Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) and his pals are engrossed in their hunt for the malevolent creature, he overlooks the fact that his sister Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher) appears to be having visions and communicating with someone.

Rather than pondering if she might also possess special abilities like Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), both Mike and his family dismiss it as an imaginary friend, failing to consider that it could be Vecna.

Predictably, this leads to Holly being abducted by a demogorgon and whisked away to the Upside Down.

Many Stranger Things enthusiasts are now eager to learn more about the actress playing the new Holly, after the younger version of the character was portrayed by identical twins Anniston and Tinsley Price in earlier seasons.

How old is Holly Wheeler in Stranger Things season 5?

The role of the new Holly in Stranger Things season five is taken on by British child star Nell Fisher.

The 13 year old Londoner has previously appeared in Bookworm, Evil Dead Rise, Northspur, the TV show My Life Is Murder and Choose Love.

According to IMDb, she is rumoured to be starring next in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Live Action TV series, which is currently in pre-production.

In Stranger Things season 5, actress Fisher is 13-years-old, but her character Holly was born in 1980, according to the Stranger Things fandom page, making her around seven-years-old in this season.

Holly would have been about three-years-old in the first season, set in 1983.

Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono) at one point comments that Holly “isn’t five anymore”, hinting at her daughter’s growing age.

Why was Holly Wheeler recast in Stranger Things?

The recasting of Holly Wheeler in Stranger Things was due to the producers wanting an older and more experienced actress for the role of Holly, who plays a significant part in the fifth season.

As revealed in the first volume of season five, Holly’s role in the plot is quite crucial, with Matt Duffer telling SFX in a recent interview: “Once you see the full season, you’ll have a better understanding of why it was so important to add her to the cast.

“One of the reasons was, we just wanted to recapture some of the feeling of season one, and some of that you can’t recapture unless you have kids, because our kids are not kids anymore. They’re not close to being kids anymore.”

He added: “So it was really fun to add Holly and her classmates into the show, because it allowed us to recapture some of that feeling.”

Stranger Things season 5, volume 2 is released on Netflix UK and Ireland on Boxing Day (December 26) at 1am
