Stranger Things 5 Theory: Eleven Might Actually Help Vecna Become Even More Powerful

Awesome STRANGER THINGS 5 Trailer Teases One Last Epic Adventure — GeekTyrant

The story of Stranger Things season 4 can be considered a somewhat “happy ending,” and the people of Hawkins finally get a moment of peace and safety as everyone reunites after years of separation.

However, the kids of Hawkins are far from true happiness. In the final scene of season 4, Vecna successfully destroys the barrier between the real world and the Upside Down, opening a gateway for countless dark supernatural forces to pour into the human world. Eddie has died, Max is in a coma, and overall—things are hanging by a thread.

To set up the ultimate showdown between Vecna and Eleven, the final part of season 4 showed us that Eleven failed to defeat the villain, even though she temporarily subdued him.

On top of that, Vecna’s remains vanished after Nancy, Steve, and Robin burned him; Max is in a coma; sacrifices were made; and the merging of the two worlds leaves Eleven feeling defeated. Vecna’s ability to “use the darkest memories of his victims against them” could become an incredibly powerful weapon against Eleven—because she is now filled with pain and disappointment in herself.

Ever since the Mind Flayer possessed Will Byers in season 2, it’s clear the creature takes over its host by pushing them into a state of despair. This might be why the Demogorgon never killed Will—the creature was part of Vecna’s mind, and its master needed a human host, not a meal.

Vecna/Mind Flayer pushed this method even further in season 4 when he forced Chrissy, Patrick, Fred, and Max to relive their worst memories as part of a “trick” to lure them into a hypnotic state before killing them.

In Stranger Things season 5, Vecna will likely exploit Eleven’s anger, frustration, and anxiety to weaken her further. The fact that she could resurrect Max at the end of season 4 proves her powers are still intact—and perhaps stronger than ever.

However, this also means her defeat against Vecna truly makes her question whether she’s strong enough to fight him. Clearly, Eleven doesn’t believe she can beat Vecna when confronting him, and this belief is reinforced by Dr. Brenner constantly telling her she isn’t ready for the battle.

Vecna can sense this kind of negative emotion and will take advantage of it to turn it against Eleven in season 5—continuing to make her feel disappointment and pain by convincing her that she can’t defeat him. Clearly, Vecna’s power still can’t fully overpower Eleven, so his only option is to attack her mind, tricking her into believing that fighting is useless, weakening her abilities, and allowing him to destroy her the way he did his other victims.

After season 3 introduced too many villains and too many monsters—making the story messy and hard to follow—season 4 showed us that every creature from the Upside Down is controlled and directed by one ultimate being behind the scenes.

Henry Creel/One/Vecna used the Demogorgons, Demodogs, the Mind Flayer, the Spider Monster, and the bat creatures of the Upside Down as his personal army. He is the “master” of the Upside Down and the source of every terrifying danger threatening Hawkins and the world.

Therefore, it’s no surprise if Vecna unleashes his full power in Stranger Things season 5—the final season.

I hope Eleven’s disappointment in herself will be eased and supported by her friends and loved ones, because only she can defeat Vecna and destroy the Upside Down once and for all.
