Hawkins’ favorite science teacher is setting the record straight about rumors of deleted footage from season 5 of Stranger Things.

As tension builds ahead of the nostalgic sci-fi show’s series finale, Randy Havens — who plays Scott Clarke, the informative science teacher the rest of the cast relies on for random facts — debunked online rumors that there’s a secret, extended cut of the show’s fifth and final season.

“There’s no secret Snyder cut of the show,” Havens wrote on his Instagram Stories on Sunday, Dec. 28, referencing director Zack Snyder’s version of the 2017 film Justice League released on HBO Max in 2021Havens also encouraged fans not to believe all the rumors circulating online.

Havens’ response comes after mounting online claims that a number of major scenes and plot lines were cut from the new season’s volume 2 (released Dec. 25 after the first volume’s Nov. 25th debut), impacting the fabric of the show’s conclusion. Fans even started a petition on Change.org, which has garnered over 300,000 signatures as of Dec. 29, urging Netflix to release the “unseen footage” of the show.

Havens’ character, Mr. Clarke, is a middle school science teacher who often holds all the theoretical information about the show’s mysteries, from the possible existence of an alternate dimension (the Upside Down) in season 1 to why all the magnets were falling off Joyce Byers’ refrigerator in season 3.

Despite acting as the cast’s human Google search, Mr. Clarke remained in the dark about the alternate dimension until season 5.

Stranger Things‘ fifth season picked up months after the dramatic end of season 4, which saw the town of Hawkins, Indiana fracturing and giving way to the Upside Down in what appeared to be a small apocalypse.

The series finale of Stranger Things debuts on Netflix on Dec. 31.
