After a long wait, Stranger Things Season 5 – the final season of the series – is approaching. One actor from the main cast revealed that this season made the entire cast cry “uncontrollably.”
Ahead of the release of Stranger Things (Stranger Things) Season 5, actor David Harbour (who plays Jim Hopper) shared that viewers might want to prepare tissues to watch Season 5. Specifically, the actor said that the final episode of Season 5 is “the best episode” they’ve ever done. David Harbour recalled that the first script reading for this episode was incredibly emotional. “As we were reading it, about halfway through, people started crying. Then, in the last 20 minutes, everyone couldn’t stop crying, over and over.”

Since the first season aired in 2016, nearly a decade has passed since viewers first stepped into Hawkins and followed the adventures of the characters in Stranger Things. When the first season aired, the main cast were all teenage kids, and now they are all in their twenties, with Millie Bobby Brown (who plays Eleven) even married. Therefore, David Harbour said he understands the emotional reactions of the cast when reading the script for the final episode of Season 5 – the final season of the series – because Stranger Things has been a part of the childhood of these young actors.

Talking more about the final episode of Stranger Things Season 5, David Harbour “leaked” that the film will address the passage of time, and the changes since Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp) disappeared and Eleven arrived in Hawkins. The actor confirmed, “It’s a fantastic episode, and it’s a fantastic season,” and believes that viewers will love it.
Alongside David Harbour, many other actors from Stranger Things have commented that Season 5 is the best season of the entire series. Noah Schnapp said, “I think this will be the best season ever.” He added, “The way they end the show is perfect; the story starts with Will and will end with Will.” Meanwhile, Jamie Campbell Bower (who plays Vecna) shared, “Season 4 was great, but Season 5 is definitely going to be even better.”

Season 4 of Stranger Things aired its final episode in July 2022, and it’s been over three years waiting for Season 5. Many fans are growing increasingly impatient. The delay in the release of Stranger Things 5 was partly due to the double strike by the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild in 2023. Affected by the double strike, production had to halt for about 140 days, and filming can only resume in early 2024.

In Season 5 of Stranger Things, the line between the Upside Down and the real world blurs, merging together. Hawkins is thus thrust into its greatest threat ever when Vecna appears for the final battle. But the young heroes – the main characters of Stranger Things – won’t back down. They unite and proactively seek out Vecna, with only one goal: Find and destroy Vecna once and for all.

As secrets are revealed and past traumas resurface, the group must rely on their bond and Eleven’s evolving powers to close the gate connecting the two worlds once and for all.
Stranger Things Season 5 is set to have 8 episodes. The number of episodes may seem few for the long wait and the scale of the final season, but Maya Hawke (who plays Robin) emphasized that the production team focused more on the length and quality of each episode in this season rather than the quantity. Maya revealed: “The episodes are very long.”
Stranger Things Season 5 will not be “split in two” like many other Netflix series, but will be “split into three parts.” Specifically, the first part with 4 episodes will be released on November 26, the second part with 3 episodes will air on December 25, and the final part with the final episode will air on December 31, 2025.
