Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for The Pitt season 2, episode 10.Dr. Robby was surprisingly hostile towards Dr. Mohan in this week’s episode of The Pitt, and his behavior needs a closer look. Thanks to the water slide collapse, the entire cast of The Pitt had several life-threatening cases to deal with this week. From a leg amputation to a degloved finger and a child with a neck injury, Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center was in complete chaos, all while the computer systems are still down.

That didn’t stop the doctors and nurses of PTMC from continuing their drama, however. This week, we got more of Langdon and Santos’ ongoing feud, a few nicer moments for Ogilvie, an update about Javadi’s mother, and Dr. Mohan had a panic attack. That last point is the biggest, especially considering Robby’s reaction to it, and it needs to be looked at a bit closer.

McKay Gave Roxie Her Final Dose Of Morphine

Throughout The Pitt season 2, episode 10, Dr. McKay and Javadi continued to give Roxie, a woman with terminal cancer, palliative care. Per Robby’s instructions, that meant that they administered more and more morphine to combat her pain, with the intended side effect being her death. At the end of the episode, McKay administered what is likely going to be the last dose of morphine before Roxie passes away.

Roxie’s death has hit PTMC pretty hard. Javadi broke down at the beginning of the episode, which caused her to reevaluate her relationship with her own mother, Dr. Shamsi. Unfortunately, Dr. Shamsi wasn’t as interested in fostering a mother-daughter relationship, and instead chastised Victoria for continuing to practice emergency medicine when she visited later on in the episode.

For her part, McKay was incredibly graceful and composed while helping Roxie die. She very clearly explained everything, and when she saw Roxie’s son staying out in the hallway, she offered him some encouragement to go say goodbye to his mother before she dies. She also had good advice about setting emotional barriers with patients for Javadi. In short, McKay has really shined while treating Roxie.

Robby Went Off On Mohan & Al-Hashimi

The most surprising moment from this week’s episode of The Pitt came from Dr. Robby, and it was directed (mostly) at Dr. Mohan. Early on in the episode, Mohan had a panic attack due to her mother’s constant calls and the fact that she now has to find a fellowship at PTMC at the last minute. She initially thought it was a heart attack, but when Robby examined her, they determined it was a panic attack.

Robby, however, had absolutely no empathy for Mohan. He berated her for not having her head in the game, asked if the panic attack was about her “mommy issues,” and demanded she go home against her will. It was a shockingly hostile response from Robby, but there’s more to it than a random act of meanness.

Robby is struggling with his mental health, that much is clear. His outburst at Mohan may be a way of projecting his own thoughts about his mental health onto her. He probably believes he has a handle on what’s going on in his head, and he’s using Mohan’s panic attack as proof that she doesn’t have a handle on it. Robby may even be mad that Mohan’s panic attack is about her mother, while he’s still processing the trauma of PittFest and COVID, which he may view as more “worthy” of being worried about.

Robby didn’t stop with Mohan, though. Later in the episode, Dr. Al-Hashimi confronted Robby about how he treated Samira’s panic attack, and he fired right back at her. When asked what it would take for him to have some empathy, Robby flatly told Al-Hashimi that he doesn’t believe she’ll be able to take care of the emergency room while he’s on his sabbatical. Robby’s reaction was not only mean, it came right after Al-Hashimi performed a slash trike, the type of procedure he was trying to convince her to do earlier in the shift.

The way Robby interacted with both Mohan and Al-Hashimi isn’t an entirely new development. Since The Pitt began, Robby has had a history of misogyny. It’s usually more subtle, but Robby often prefers his male students over the female ones and treats female doctors much more harshly. His treatment of Al-Hashimi and Mohan may be an extension of that trend, and Robby may have been spurred by some implicit biases he has.

Mel’s Sister, Becca, Had A UTI From Sexual Intercourse

In The Pitt season 2, episode 9, Dr. King’s sister, Becca, was brought into the emergency room with a stomach ache and pain while urinating. In this week’s episode, we discovered that Becca had a urinary tract infection that she got from sexual intercourse with her boyfriend, Adam. In her own words, Becca and Adam are having “lots of sex,” while Mel didn’t even know that Becca had a boyfriend.

The reveal about Becca’s UTI made for a very funny reaction from Mel, but there were also a few moments related to it that are worth discussing. For instance, we learned that Mel’s deposition didn’t go well, that the prosecuting attorneys were hostile and are trying to paint her as incompetent to get a bigger settlement. Langdon also had a chance to stand his ground with Mel and refuse to tell her about Becca’s UTI because of HIPAA restrictions.

Santos & Garcia’s Relationship Is In Trouble

The last big development of The Pitt season 2, episode 10 came from Dr. Santos and Dr. Garcia, who are dating. Santos and Garcia have had a few problems already this season, with Garcia taking a “rain check” on her plans to spend the Fourth of July with Santos. This week, Garcia sided with Langdon while treating one of the victims from the water park collapse, and Santos has a very vocal grudge against Langdon.

Garcia’s actions sparked another conversation with Santos, and one that didn’t go her way. Garcia said she didn’t want to talk about Langdon again and told Santos that if she wants to do anything other than eat or have sex, she should do it with a therapist. Garcia also suggested that Santos doesn’t play well with others, and that she’s reading too much into the impact her exposing Langdon’s drug abuse has had on her social life at PTMC.

All of this seems to suggest one thing: Santos is more invested in the relationship than Garcia is. Garcia views this as a casual, possibly “friends with benefits” arrangement, but Santos wants to be able to vent to Garcia and spend holidays with her like a girlfriend. Those differing views could cause some strife, and Santos and Garcia may have a fight on the horizon before The Pitt season 2 is done.
