Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is facing a civil lawsuit that has rapidly escalated into one of the most serious off-field controversies of his career, after a woman accused the rising NFL star of making an antisemitic remark and physically assaulting her during a New Year’s Eve gathering in Los Angeles.

According to court filings, the plaintiff, Madison Atiabi, alleges that Nacua made what she described as an “unprovoked antisemitic statement” during a group dinner in Century City, a comment she says caused immediate emotional distress given her Jewish faith.

The lawsuit further claims that the situation intensified later that evening when the group entered a vehicle, where Nacua allegedly bit Atiabi on the shoulder with enough force to leave a visible imprint of his teeth. The complaint also includes an allegation that he bit another woman’s thumb during the same incident, an act described as painful and non-consensual.

The legal action includes claims of assault and battery, gender violence, and negligence, placing the case within a broader civil liability framework that could carry significant consequences if proven in court.

Nacua, however, has categorically denied the allegations.

Through his attorney, Levi McCathern, the Rams receiver rejected the claims “in the strongest possible terms,” disputing both the alleged remark and the characterization of the physical interaction.
