According to this theory, Vecna may have realized that Max, even while trapped inside his mind, was still fighting back — not just for herself, but for the others. From within the mental prison Vecna created, Max could have been quietly helping Eleven and the group understand his weaknesses, his patterns, and possibly even a way out. And once Vecna sensed that loss of control, he made a drastic decision.
