Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp is pulling back the curtain on one of the most physically demanding moments of his career — a scene that fans only see for three seconds, but one that pushed the young actor to a breaking point off-camera.
In a recent interview, Schnapp explained the now-viral set photo taken on the day he shot Will Byers’ major psychic outburst, describing the experience as far more extreme than viewers ever imagined.

“That day, I screamed so hard that the blood vessels across my face — and even parts of my body — literally burst,” he revealed. “I’ve never had anything like that happen to me. I was genuinely scared.”
According to the actor, what ended up onscreen as a brief, high-impact moment actually required nearly two hours of continuous screaming and emotional intensity as the Duffer Brothers pushed for the perfect shot.

“It was insane,” Schnapp said. “After we wrapped, I called my doctor because I was so freaked out. And he told me it’s actually pretty common — it even happens to women during childbirth,” he added with a laugh.
The story has sparked renewed attention among Stranger Things fans, many of whom say they’re revisiting the scene with a newfound appreciation for the physical toll behind Will Byers’ supernatural suffering.
As Stranger Things heads into its final season, Schnapp’s revelation serves as a reminder of just how far the cast has gone to bring the show’s most iconic moments to life — sometimes at real personal cost.
More updates to come as Season 5 production details continue to surface.
