Filming for the highly anticipated final season of the Netflix blockbuster is clearly intense. In a recent interview, Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, detailed the moment an action sequence took an unexpected, painful turn when he failed to “pull the punch,” so to speak.

“I had a tendency to go overboard with the stunts this season,” Schnapp revealed. Describing the scene where his character had to tackle Connelly’s character, Derek, Schnapp recalled the confusing instructions: “They were like, ‘Go full force, then stop halfway, don’t commit!'”

The young star admitted the direction didn’t make sense to him. “I was like, ‘Stop in the air? How does that work?’ So then I commit, and I accidentally pin him down to the ground, and his whole leg was bleeding. I was like, ‘Oh my god, I hurt him.'”

Despite the accidental injury, Schnapp confirmed that Connelly, ever the professional, immediately shrugged off the pain, citing a major Hollywood influence.

“But he rises out of the hay and goes, ‘It’s okay Mr. Noah. I feel like Tom Cruise doing my own stunts.'”
