The investigation into the deadly Maldives scuba diving tragedy has taken a new turn after authorities began reviewing footage captured by an action camera believed to belong to one of the victims, as families continue to demand answers about what happened during the fatal descent.

Five Italian divers lost their lives after entering an underwater cave system in Vaavu Atoll, a deep and complex environment that lies far beyond standard recreational diving limits. A sixth diver, a Maldivian rescue team member, later died during recovery efforts, intensifying the scale of the disaster.

Among the victims were a university professor, her daughter, and fellow researchers who were reportedly experienced in marine studies and diving. Only one body has been recovered so far, with the remaining victims believed to still be inside the cave system, according to authorities.
