đŸ“ș “‘THE VIEW’ HOSTS REVEAL WHY THEY’RE SKIPPING TRUMP’S WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS DINNER — AND THEIR COMPARISON IS GOING VIRAL” The hosts of The View are making headlines after explaining why they chose to skip Trump’s White House Correspondents Dinner appearance. Their blunt response instantly grabbed attention — especially one comparison viewers are now sharing everywhere. Describing it as “like having a cannibal host a vegan event,” the panel’s remark has sparked fierce reactions online. Supporters are calling it sharp political satire, while critics say the comment went too far. Either way, the statement has quickly become one of the most talked-about moments tied to the event. Now, the conversation has shifted from who attended the dinner to who stayed away — and why.

The View hosts shared that they will not be attending the upcoming White House Correspondents Dinner, despite the fact that President Trump will be making his first appearance at the annual event for the first time since taking office.

Alyssa Farah Griffin shared that she believes journalists should still attend the event to benefit the White House Correspondents Association and see journalists like CNN’s Kaitlan Collins be honored. But hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin stated that they refused to attend if Trump will also be in attendance, with Navarro joking that having President Trump speak at the White House Correspondents Dinner “is like having a cannibal host a vegan event.”

“We get invited every ear and I am glad there are people going because, as Alyssa said, this raises money for worthwhile causes,” Navarro said, before launching into an impassioned rant. “For me, there is no way in hell I would normalize Donald Trump’s presence by showing up. For me, as a Latina immigrant, no community has been as maligned, humiliated, prosecuted and tortured as much as the immigrant community and the Latino community.”

She continued, “And theres just no way I’m going to wear Spanx, high heels, drink cheap wine, eat a bad chicken dinner and smile at the stupid things I know he’s going to say.”

The View hosts also shared that it’s been reported Trump plans to attend the dinner only to speak at the event and will be leaving soon after, which Navarro thought was “disrespectful.”

“The White House Correspondents Association should not accept that. If he is going to show up, he should sit there while Kaitlan Collins gets her award. I think that’s disrespectful to come in, confront the press, say his remarks and then leave,” Navarro complained. “If he’s going to attend, the White House Correspondents Dinner should demand that he sit through the entire event.”

Hostin added that she also won’t “grace him with my presence because I think he’s been attacking the press.” She also called him out for slashing funding for public broadcasting, attacking journalists and arresting her “friend,” former CNN journalist Don Lemon.

“I don’t care about this president’s attendance at that, I do care about journalists making him appear to be normal,” Hostin said. “He is the most abnormal president we have ever had.”

Sara Haines, on the other hand, had her own hilarious reason for wanting to skip the dinner: She wants to avoid the host, mentalist Oz Pearlman, who once accurately guessed her ATM PIN code during his live appearance on The View, sending her into a “nervous breakdown,” according to Joy Behar.

“It’s not Donald Trump that’s keeping me from this dinner, it’s Oz Pearlman,” she joked. “I warn everyone at this dinner, tell him nothing!”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
