Morgan Wallen lives rent free in the head of Hayley Williams.
If that name isnât familiar to you, thereâs a good chance you are at least somewhat familiar with her work. Williams is the lead singer of Paramore, the punk rock band known for songs like âMisery Businessâ and âStill Into You.â Last year, she made headlines when she released an album on her own, titled Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, and the title track took a not-so-veiled shot at country music superstar Morgan Wallen.
The first lines of that song go like this:
âIâll be the biggest star at this racist country singerâs bar
No use shootinâ for the moon, no use chasing waterfalls
Iâm the biggest star at this racist country singerâs bar
No use shootinâ for the moon, no use chasing waterfallsâ
Itâs since become very clear that the country music singer sheâs got in her crosshairs with those lyrics is Wallen.
She herself as confirmed that Morgan Wallen is the âracist country singerâ in her song, and during a show at the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts earlier this month, Williams was talking about her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee when she blatantly said to the audience there that she hates Morgan Wallen:
âIt was something about being âconcept neutral,â and I just thought, âWhat a f***ing bad time to be neutral on anything in this world. So shame on them and ⊠marginalized people need allies and protection and support, soâŠ
Back home, we have the same s***, you know. and I hate it, because I grew up there, and it was so special and then I got older and I could see, I had different eyes to see it all. And they ruined Broadway⊠no shade if you want to travel down there and go honk tonkinâ. I like that too. But um, I hate Morgan Wallen. Oh no. Thatâll be on the internet. F***. Letâs play it.â
It played alright.
That quote obviously got a lot of attention, and Hayley Williams kept the âMorgan Wallen Hate Tourâ rolling when she played in Nashville recently. This time, she cited the infamous chair throwing incident (and arrest) from 2024, when the âLast Nightâ singer threw a chair off the top of Eric Churchâs Broadway bar, Chiefâs.
She asked the crowd if anyone there was from out of town, and then promptly warned them to keep an eye out for⊠flying chairs while they are in town:
âTourism on the rise. Watch out for f***ing flying chairs. You never know if youâre gonna get hit.â

Two years later and weâre still doing the chair throwing jokes, eh? How boringâŠ. imagine being a musician and an entertainer, and rather than playing good music, you make âI hate Morgan Wallenâ your entire personality. Itâs kind of pathetic, really.
Good luck finding a bigger Morgan Wallen hater than Hayley Williams. The Paramore lead singer appears to be staying strong in her âracist country music singerâ hate campaign. She even went as far to throw some shade at the country star by bringing Jason Isbell out to sing âCover Me Up,â which is a song that Isbell wrote and released, but Wallen covered (and that cover became beloved by his fans).
