JUST DAYS BEFORE THE RIVER OAKS FAMILY TRAGEDY, ONLINE RUMOURS BEGAN SWIRLING ABOUT AN ALLEGED DNA TEST — AND NOW THE SPECULATION IS ONLY GROWING 😳” As people continue searching for answers in the devastating case involving Thy Mitchell and her family, unverified online discussions have focused on claims that Matthew Mitchell may have sought paternity testing shortly before the tragedy unfolded. No official source has confirmed the claim, and investigators have not publicly linked any alleged DNA test to the case. Even so, the rumour has spread rapidly online because of one painful detail many people still can’t stop thinking about: Thy was reportedly pregnant at the time of her death. Behind the luxury home, the polished family photos, and the seemingly perfect image, followers of the case are now wondering whether tensions may have existed that nobody outside the mansion ever truly saw.

A WEALTHY restaurateur and former pharmaceutical CEO killed his pregnant wife and two young children before turning the gun on himself, police have said.

The family of four was found dead after a babysitter and a relative raised the alarm when they had not heard from them for more than a day.

The tragedy unfolded in River Oaks, a wealthy suburb in Houston, Texas, on Monday night.

Authorities named Matthew Mitchell, 52, as the suspect in the horror murder-suicide, the Daily Mail reported.

He was found dead inside the family’s $1.2 million home with his wife, Thy Mitchell, 39, and their two children.

Thy’s sister confirmed her and her children’s deaths in a heartbreaking Facebook post.

“We are heartbroken to share that my sister, Thy, and her beloved children, Maya and Max, passed away last night,” she wrote.

“Our family is grieving deeply and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be shared when they are available.”

Authorities said all four died from gunshot wounds.

Houston Police said officers were called to the home shortly after 5:26 pm for a welfare check.

Officers entered the home and found the parents and children dead inside.

The children had last been seen on Sunday, according to Fox26, before their bodies were found in their beds.

Police said they are treating the case as a murder-suicide.

Officials have not released further details about the crime scene.

The couple owned Traveler’s Table, a Houston restaurant.

Matthew had previously served as CEO of the Texas Center for Drug Development, according to his website biography.

A publicist for the family’s restaurant told the Daily Mail that Thy was a “dear friend.”

Just days before her death she had shared a sweet post with her daughter as they looking for her sister’s wedding later this year.

Matthew’s restaurant biography said he studied in France, Italy, and at Oxford University in England.

It said he worked as a journalist in London and New York City early in his career.

After returning to Texas, he attended Rice University.

He then moved into the pharmaceutical industry and became president and CEO of the Texas Center for Drug Development.

He later opened Traveler’s Table with Thy.

In September 2025, the couple were named Restaurateurs of the Year in Houston.

Neighbors were left stunned by the deaths in one of Houston’s wealthiest communities.

The River Oaks area is known for streets lined with multi-million dollar homes.

One neighbor, Cindy, told Click2 she had lived there for 19 years and had “never seen anything like this.”

“We haven’t had these kinds of tragedies. We don’t have robberies,” she said.
