Alex Eala, Zeynep Sönmez cruise into Madrid Open doubles round of 16

Fresh off her strong start in singles, Filipina tennis star Alex Eala kept her momentum going at the Madrid Open after teaming up with Turkish player Zeynep Sönmez for a dominant first-round doubles victory.
The Filipino-Turkish tandem defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chan Hao-ching and Hungary’s Fanny Stollár, 6-2, 6-2 in the Round of 32 to advance to the Round of 16.
Eala and Sönmez had to overcome an early deficit after falling behind 0-2 in the opening set.
From there, the pair reeled off six consecutive games to snatch the first set, 6-2.
Their momentum carried over into the second frame as Eala and Sönmez continued to dictate the pace against their more experienced opponents.
The duo stormed to a commanding 4-0 lead before Chan and Stollár managed to get on the board to trim the gap to 4-1.
But Eala and Sönmez remained composed and energetic throughout the match, consistently displaying positive body language and encouraging each other after every point.
They moved closer to victory by extending their lead to 5-1 before eventually sealing the straight-set win, 6-2, 6-2.
