The Pitt Explodes Into Emmy Contention As Season 2 Predictions Suggest The Cast Could Smash Records With A Stunning Wave Of Acting Nominations
What a difference a season makes.
Given the phenomenon that The Pitt has become, it’s hard to believe that Season 1 only earned three Emmy nominations for its actors. All three performers took home trophies: lead actor Noah Wyle, supporting actress Katherine LaNasa, and guest actor Shawn Hatosy.
The diagnosis looks far different Season 2. Those three are, of course, predicted to return in their respective categories, but they should be joined by quite a few more members of the hit show’s ensemble, which also took home the top prize at SAG-AFTRA’s Actor Awards. Succession holds the Emmys record with 14 acting nominations in 2023 — while The Pitt may not reach such heights, the cast could break into double digits this time out.
Here’s a look at the latest predictions, per the Gold Derby leaderboards.
LEAD ACTOR
Dr. Robby might have been struggling this season, but his doppelganger is not: Noah Wyle is comfortably in the No. 1 slot in the drama acting race, ahead of Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Mark Ruffalo (Task), and Walton Goggins (Fallout).

SUPPORTING ACTRESS
LaNasa is confirmed to stay in the supporting actress race (despite speculation otherwise), and, like Wyle, she’s holding on to the lead. But this time out, she has company from her cast mates: Taylor Dearden, who plays Dr. Mel King, is currently in fourth place, behind Julianne Nicholson (Paradise) and Karolina Wydra (Pluribus), with an 87% chance of being nominated.
Also making the rounds in Gold Derby’s Top 10 are Fiona Dourif (Cassie McKay), Isa Briones (Trinity Santos), and Sepideh Moafi (Baran Al-Hashimi). And don’t count out Supriya Ganesh (Samira Mohan) — whose fandom is very much keeping her in the conversation. She’s just outside of contention in the 12th slot, with an 8% chance of a nod.
The final size of the field will be determined by the number of submissions — last year, there were seven nominees.

SUPPORTING ACTOR
Dr. Langdon’s return to the ED may not have been welcomed by Dr. Robby, but fans certainly did embrace him — and we’re predicting voters will as well. Patrick Ball is at the top of the charts for the supporting actor category, with a 95% chance of a nomination in a likely seven-person field. Huckleberry — um, Gerran Howell — is in seventh place, with a 66% chance of getting a nod.

GUEST ACTRESS
Last year’s field of six nominees included three from Severance — could we see the same dominance from The Pitt? Right now, the leaderboard includes three Pitt actors in the top six: Tal Anderson as Becca King, Mel’s sister; Brittany Allen as Roxie Hamler, the young mother dying of cancer; and Ayesha Harris as Dr. Parker Ellis, the night-shift resident newly promoted to series regular for Season 3. Remember, though, that Emmy voters love to reward A-list names — and Mary McCormack made a much-heralded ER reunion as head of neurosurgery Dr. Linda Conley, though she’s currently ranked No. 15.

GUEST ACTOR
Hatosy won this race last year; he may well make history with a repeat performance for his dramatic pep talk with Robby in the season finale (“I’m your emergency contact, and I do not want to be contacted.”).
But like his Emmy-winning counterparts, he’ll also have Pitt-mates among the nominees: Jeff Kober, who played Robby’s motorcycle buddy Duke, is in third place, with 79% odds of a nod. And just outside the range in ninth place is fan-favorite Louie: Ernest Harden Jr., with just under 19% odds of a nomination.
What better way to celebrate his life and legacy.
