Emma Raducanu is always in the center of attention, even when she doesn’t have such great results.

So far, the British tennis player has not fulfilled the potential or the expectations of fans and experts.

The victory at the 2021 US Open, in addition to being a great success, could also be considered a curse for the young tennis player, as it placed enormous pressure on her shoulders from that moment onward.

Emma Raducanu has not been able to achieve consistency for years and seems not to find the same support month after month.

The British woman had great ambitions at the last Indian Wells, but in the match against Amanda Anisimova she failed to dominate and was defeated 6-1, 6-1 in the third round.

Raducanu changed many aspects of her game, making the most significant changes in her coaching staff, having gone through as many as nine coaches since the 2021 US Open.

Her most recent coach was Francisco Roig, who had worked with her since August of last year, but after a disappointing performance at this year’s Australian Open, she decided to end their collaboration.

Among the multitude of experts and analysts, Martina Navratilova appeared, who commented on the performances of the young British woman.

Navratilova believes that Raducanu should have had a different approach, allowing the coaches to develop long-term cooperation with her, in order to get to know her better and create the chemistry necessary for success.

Navratilova warns that expecting results immediately with a new coach is not realistic, because it is a long process that requires time, patience and commitment.

“You need somebody full-time. You don’t need to have a great coach all the time. Maybe somebody even part-time, which is kind of what she’s got. But you still have to stay consistent and get this person to get to know you, get the history and give them a chance to make a difference. You can’t expect results to come right away – that’s a long process,” Navratilova told Sky Sports.

“You need to buy into the coach and stay there for a little bit longer. I think that’s the biggest mistake – she’s been through too many people and then you get so many different ideas and you don’t quite know which one to stick with.”

During this season, Emma Raducanu played in several prestigious tournaments, such as the Qatar Open and the Dubai Tennis Championship.

The performance in Doha was not successful, as she retired during her match against Camila Osorio, while in Dubai she was defeated by Antonia Ruzic due to health problems.

The 22-year-old will not even compete at the Miami Open due to symptoms after the virus. It is still unknown when Raducanu will return, but she is expected to return during the clay court season in 2026.

Miami Open and virus; I had really long effects for the last three weeks

This year, the Miami Open will attract a lot of attention, with Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina definitely among the main favorites.

Raducanu is always an interesting figure in every tournament, even though she is not one of the favorites, but unfortunately for the fans of this tournament, they will follow the Miami Open without Emma Raducanu this year.

Before her performance at Indian Wells, Emma Raducanu revealed that she had contracted the virus, saying she had been feeling the lingering effects for the past few weeks. Aware that with such consequences she cannot play at her level, Raducanu wants to take a period of rest in order to fully recover and focus on the next challenges.

“In Cluj, I picked up like a virus, I think, at the start of the tournament. So I was dealing with that and the after-effects… I had really long effects for the last three weeks. I’ve been trying to clear them. So the Middle East trip was very difficult for me,” the 23-year-old explained before kicking off her Sunshine Double campaign in Indian Wells.

The British woman constantly encounters problems, but she is aware that sometimes it is important to accept her fate and do what she can at that moment. Emma has a record of 7-7 this season, and is currently ranked 23rd in the world.

Her future is of great interest.

Emma Raducanu knows that it will not be easy to return to winning ways, nor to achieve success in major tournaments, but the most important thing is that she is dedicated and focused, that she trains hard and tries to achieve a positive result in tournaments.
