After her shocking werewolf transformation in Season 2, Enid has become the character Wednesday fans are most talking about. Has she really reached Alpha status—and more importantly, what is she hiding? The showrunners have only admitted that Season 3 will “reveal a power Enid is afraid to admit even to her closest friends.” That statement immediately fueled the theory that Enid may be keeping a dangerous secret, one that could change the entire landscape of Nevermore. What is it that Enid is hiding from even Wednesday—and if the truth is revealed, can they still be friends?

Is Enid An Alpha Werewolf Now? Will She Return To Nevermore In ‘Wednesday’ Season 3?

The second season of Netflix’s Wednesday ended on an uncertain note without revealing the fate of everyone’s favorite character on the show, Enid Sinclair. In the second part of season 2, we found out that Enid was an Alpha werewolf, the strongest of their kind. She could transform into a werewolf without a full moon, that is, whenever she wants, which, I believe, makes Enid more powerful than most outcasts out there. But these powers often come at a cost. As per the myths, the Alphas often end up becoming lone wolves, and judging by everything we know of Enid, she has always been scared of loneliness. She cannot live without people. She loves to socialize and gossip about her friends and frenemies. It’s her element. So is being an Alpha really a boon for Enid, or a curse that will one day take her life?

In season 2, episode 5, Isadora Capri, the only person who knew about Enid’s secret powers, explained to her that the Alphas are pretty rare beasts, which is why there are so many rumors around them. What she meant to say is that no one really knows the true nature of these creatures, and hence whatever knowledge they have on them is just hearsay. I believe even Capri didn’t know much about them, and therefore, to play things safe, she asked Enid to lock herself in Lupin cages at night and try not to wolf out during a full moon. Capri warned Enid that if she transformed under a full moon, then there was a chance that she may remain in her werewolf form for the rest of her life. But that’s not the real danger. As per the myths, the Alphas who transform permanently are often hunted and killed by other werewolves. It’s a sort of self-policing so these Alphas don’t end up harming any humans or Outcasts. This was the reason why Enid had been keeping herself calm and composed so she didn’t accidentally transform. On the full moon night, she even locked herself in the Lupin cages, but then the inevitable happened. Isaac Night, the new villain in the story, attacked Wednesday and buried her six feet under, leaving Enid no other option but to turn into a werewolf to save her best friend’s life. However, shortly after, Enid ran away into the woods, and no one heard from her again. I think as soon as Wednesday emerged from the grave and addressed her best friend, Enid tried to turn back into her human form, but she couldn’t. Can you understand her state of mind and the things she was going through in this moment? I guess Enid believed that her worst fear had come to pass, and she wouldn’t be able to be with her friends again, and therefore she ran away. She ran away from them so that she wouldn’t end up harming them.

After Enid disappeared into the woods, Wednesday had asked Agnes Demille, the new member of their pack, to locate Enid before it was too late. In season 2’s ending, Agnes informed Wednesday that she’d found Enid on wildlife cam footage, according to which she was heading north, towards the Canadian border. But what was there? Perhaps Enid’s family lived there, or maybe some close relatives? It could also be possible that somewhere in between, Capri told Enid about the support group, aka the pack, and asked her to join them if things go south. So if Enid was headed toward Canada, then it’s likely that Capri’s secret group for misfits is located somewhere in that area, and Enid believed that Capri would be able to help her to transform back into her human form. I am not sure if Capri has the best of intentions in mind, or if she just wanted to exploit an Alpha’s powers to achieve her own sinister objectives. Whatever the case might be, as soon as Wednesday got intel on her best friend’s whereabouts, she quickly gave a call to her Uncle Fester, asking him to go on a road trip. She wanted to spend her summer vacation tracking down Enid and bringing her home safely, because that’s what best friends do, right? That’s what Enid did for Wednesday. She risked her life to save her, and now it was Wednesday’s turn to return the favor. So, at the end of the day, the two biggest questions that still remain unanswered are: why is Enid headed north? And will she be able to transform back to her human form?

I think the answer to the second question is pretty obvious. Enid, being one of the most colorful characters of the show, won’t end up meeting such a grim fate, and Wednesday will do everything in her power to help her become human again. But as far as the first question is concerned, I guess the third season of the show will be able to answer it better. I have a feeling that the storylines of Enid, Capri, and Tyler are somehow connected to each other, and in season 3, Capri and Wednesday’s aunt, Ophelia, are going to be at the center of the conflict. So, these are my thoughts on Enid, but I would love to hear if you have a different opinion on this or if you want to add anything to it. Please feel free to comment below.
