Netflix’s record-breaking hit series, Wednesday, may have just concluded its second season, but already one of the show’s stars is thinking ahead to Season 3. Wednesday is currently the No. 1 show on Netflix both in the U.S. and globally.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar-winner Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Addams Family matriarch, Morticia, in Wednesday, revealed what she’d like to see for her character in the future. Wednesday, which stars Jenna Ortega as the titular Wednesday Addams, was renewed for a third season before the start of Season 2.

“I hope that I can have such a great character arc as I did in Season 2,” Zeta-Jones said of her hopes for the third season of the hit series that has an 80% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, Zeta-Jones confessed, “But then again, I don’t know which way they’re going to go. I literally have no idea.”

She continued, “I’d like to have more time with my mother to do more of a backstory there. Through our communication and actions, we kind of solidify that something went down that was completely quite devastating for Morticia. We saw (one of the things in Part 2).”

“Selfishly, I want to work more with Joanna Lumley. I’d love to do a bit more with Uncle Fester. He’s such a prominent part of the Addams Family’s extended family. And I would imagine there would be some kind of Wednesday-Morticia confrontation, but maybe it would be finding some solace or common ground as she grows older,” Zeta-Jones said.

As for the future of what could happen once Wednesday eventually concludes its run, Zeta-Jones said she’s open to doing a Morticia-centered spinoff. “Well, can you put that out there for me?” Zeta-Jones said. “I’d be very happy to play Morticia to the end of my days,” she said.

Expect Secrets to Be Revealed in Season 3

In a recent Season 3 update, Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar teased that fans should expect more family members and more juicy secrets to be revealed in the next installment.

“Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” Gough said. “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday. We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3,” Millar added.

The duo didn’t share much about Season 3, with Millar joking via Tudum, “I’d have to bury you in a shallow grave,” if he teased too many details. But, Millar did say that the Season 2 finale, titled “A Woe in the Dark,” was like “a nice breadcrumb that leads audiences to wonder about Season 3 and what the new adventure for Wednesday will be.”

Wednesday, in addition to Ortega and Zeta-Jones, also stars Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Fred Armisen, Victor Dorobantu, and Joanna Lumley. Wednesday is streaming on Netflix.
