Downcast Andrew stares longingly at his horses after being banned from riding in wake of shock arrest over Epstein links
DOWNCAST Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been spotted watching horses from behind a fence after being banned from riding.
The disgraced former Duke of York, 66, was snapped yesterday looking longingly at the steeds on the Sandringham estate.
The Sun previously revealed royal aides fear him being seen grinning on horseback is a “bad look” while under police investigation for allegedly leaking secrets to Jeffrey Epstein.
It comes as we reported yesterday how the FBI investigated Andrew over claims he sought young girls for sex during a taxpayer-funded royal tour.
He is currently effectively housebound with just his dogs for company — including two of his late mother’s corgis.
Before moving to Sandringham in February, Andrew was regularly seen horse riding around the Windsor estate.
But he has been told not to do the same near his current home at Wood Farm, where photographers can capture him.
It comes after he was spotted wide-eyed in the back of a car after 11 hours of police questioning on his birthday, February 19.
A source told The Sun at the time: “Since his arrest last week he has been ordered not to go horse riding. It’s considered a bad look.
“They don’t think he should be seen grinning and smiling on his horse like he was in Windsor.
“But it was one of the few things he actually enjoyed doing so what on earth is he going to do with his time?”
It follows the voluntary surrender of his gun licence to the police last year, ending another of his hobbies.
Andrew had angered royal aides when he was spotted grinning and waving at passers-by from his car near his former Royal Lodge home in Windsor last month.
Later that evening, as The Sun exclusively revealed, he was driven under cover of darkness from his 31-room mansion to live on the King’s Sandringham estate.
He is expected to move into his new full-time home at neighbouring Marsh Farm by early April once renovations are complete.
While protection officers are guarding the house, the only company Andrew has are two corgis which belonged to the late Queen, and five Norfolk terriers.
In a rare bit of good news for the former Duke of York, engineers were last month fitting high-speed internet in the nearby road.
The tiny Norfolk village of Wolferton on the Sandringham estate lost connection for a month last autumn and the parish council has pushed for a full-fibre service.
Andrew, who had all his royal titles stripped by his brother King Charles last year, was arrested at home on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Police carried out searches of his new abode as well as Royal Lodge at the time of his arrest.
Andrew allegedly passed sensitive emails to his paedophile financier pal Jeffrey Epstein while he was UK trade envoy.
