In Season 2 of Wednesday, Tyler was locked away in Willow Hill, an asylum for Outcasts, for the carnage he’d wrought as a Hyde in Season 1. In Season 2, Wednesday stages a jailbreak, and as she tries to get the situation (that she created by breaking him out) under control, she has the idea to try and become Tyler’s new Master. It was foiled, but when Collider asked about what Doohan would like to see, Doohan says “I wanted Jenna [Ortega] to be my master. I thought that was a fun theory. I was like, ‘Oh, I guess not.'” But given the state of things, what could come of Tyler’s character? Is he beyond redemption? Doohan explains, “Isn’t the point of a redemption arc that you earn it? He’s done some really bad things. I don’t know. It’s the Addams family. It’s foreplay.”

The dynamic between Tyler and Wednesday is left ambiguous for now since they’re heading physically in different directions. But Isaac’s reference to Tyler about Wednesday being an old flame implies that even past feelings could compromise present judgment, which was proven right when Wednesday freed Tyler, instead of killing him in the end. So could that mean those feelings are still there heading into Season 3? Doohan says:

“I don’t know. Tyler talks a big game, and then it’s fun to get to see these moments poking through. Even when he’s a Hyde about to kill Enid, Wednesday is like, ‘I lied about my feelings,’ even in Hyde form, he’s like, ‘Tell me more.'”
