Tragic girl, 7, drowned on golf course just hours after mum ‘dropped her at new childminder recommended on Facebook’
A “HAPPY” seven-year-old girl drowned just hours after being dropped off with a new childminder for the very first time, her mum’s friend claimed.
Nyla May Bradshaw was found dead in a pond in South Yorkshire in a tragic accident just hours after her mum is said to have heartbreakingly left her with a new minder who was “recommended over Facebook.”
Her mum Hayley was said to have left the autistic youngster at a specialist SEND childminder at 7.45am, but within two hours, had received a text saying Nyla was missing.
Despite desperate searches, the little girl was tragically found dead in the Owston Hall Golf Course pond later on Monday.
A pal said Nyla had been placed with the new carer after her regular minder was fully booked over Easter.
Charlotte Emma, best friends with Nyla’s mother, told the Metro: “A lot of us blame ourselves because Hailey doesn’t usually leave her with anybody, she goes to a special school.
“But the school holidays have come up and her mum was desperate for a child minder.
“She’d asked a Facebook group if anybody knew of any in the area.”
Devastated parents Hayley and Kieran Bradshaw paid tribute to their daughter online.
In a heartbreaking post on her Facebook page, Nyla’s mother wrote: “It breaks my heart to write this, but today we lost our beautiful daughter Nyla May Bradshaw at just 7 years old.
“She was our whole world full of love, laughter, and the brightest smile that could light up any room.
“She brought so much joy into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her.”
Her dad Kieran Bradshaw described her as his “best friend” and an “amazing daughter”.
He wrote on Facebook: “You were so loved Nyla you touched everyone’s heart that ever met you.
“I’ll never ever go a moment without you in my thoughts.”
Emma described Nyla as “an escape artist” and “a crafty devil,” but noted that if given full attention, she would “not go anywhere”.
She also said that the council had installed a six-foot fence to keep her in the garden, and that her mother had fitted electronic locks on the house because she had repeatedly managed to get out.
A South Yorkshire police spokesman said: “Yesterday, Monday 30 March, officers responded to the death of a child in Doncaster.
“At 9.50am to a report a child had gone missing in the Skellow area of the city.
“Officers and additional resources including police drones and the police aircraft were deployed.
“Following an extensive search, the child was located in a pond on Owston Hall golf course.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services colleagues, they were pronounced deceased.
“The child’s family has been informed and is being supported by our officers. The thoughts of everybody at SYP are with them at this devastating time.”
A neighbour who often looks after Nyla during school holidays has donated £1,000 to a GoFundMe, saying she feels heartbroken she couldn’t take her that day.
