Princess Kate reveals she’s had to cut back on booze since cancer diagnosis on trip to brewery with William
PRINCESS Kate has revealed she’s had to cut back on alcohol since her cancer diagnosis during a trip to a brewery with Prince William.
Kate, 44, left the beer tasting to William on a visit to a brewery on Thursday as the pair visited London’s Bermondsey Beer Mile.
The Princess of Wales had chemotherapy in 2024 before revealing her cancer was in remission about a year later.
Kate was invited to try some beer and cider at Fabal Beerhall, but said: “Since my diagnosis I haven’t had much alcohol.”
She added: “It’s something I have to be a lot more conscious of now.”
Turning to Prince William, Kate patted her husband’s knee and said: “But you like your cider, don’t you?”
Previously, they went behind the bar at the Southwark Brewing Company, situated along the well known route of independent breweries and taprooms in London Bridge.
During their visit, founder and managing director Peter Jackson suggested the royal couple compete to see who can pull the best pint, to which a grinning Kate said: “Oh no.”
Mr Jackson gave a demonstration, with the princess telling him “you make it look so easy” before she and the prince took to pouring.
Assessing his and his wife’s efforts compared with Mr Jackson’s pint, William said: “I think they are both better actually.”
The couple then spoke to Mr Jackson’s son, also called William, over a video call to wish him a happy birthday, with the prince telling him: “We’re just in here trying not to ruin his brewery.
“We’ve just beaten him in a pint pulling contest.”
The pair also donned rubber gloves and dabbled in the brewing process while there, with William pouring hops into the mixture and Kate using a large wooden stick to stir the boil.
Earlier in the day, the royal couple had delighted tourists and Londoners alike at a nearby viral food market.
Kate was guided through the art of creating a cappuccino at a Borough Market coffee shop, but her efforts were rejected by Wills who wanted a decaf.
The pair then got behind the counter at Humble Crumble, donning aprons to serve up apple crumble to hungry punters.
Beaming from ear to ear, Kate put the final touches to the desserts as Wills watched on.
After wrapping up their tour of the Beer Mile, the pair were later pictured aboard a RNLI lifeboat in choppy waters later on Thursday.
Donning lifejackets, the Prince and Princess held on as they made their way along the Thames.
Marking the 25th anniversary of the RNLI Lifeguards at the Tower Lifeboat Station, they arrived to hear about the crucial work carried out at the organisation’s busiest station.
