On the morning of February 12th, Koreaboo reported that “Nation’s Little Sister” IU has been facing a dangerous situation, with her safety threatened for a long time. IU’s management company, EDAM Entertainment, stated that several malicious individuals have threatened and intimidated IU and her family members. These individuals have even appeared outside IU’s apartment, visited the residences of the star’s family members, and near the management company to carry out threatening and aggressive acts. Not only were there threats, but some individuals also extorted money from the “nation’s little sister,” causing public outrage.
After EDAM Entertainment officially filed a lawsuit, the aforementioned individuals were summoned by authorities for questioning and their cases were processed according to the law. The company added that investigations are still being conducted urgently and rigorously. Representatives also emphasized that they will pursue criminal charges to the fullest extent against those who threatened IU’s life, and issued a stern warning to other individuals who are still harboring malicious intentions towards the singer.

This is not the first time IU has been threatened with death. Back in October 2023, someone sent a death threat letter to the “nation’s little sister.” Upon receiving the report from IU’s representatives, authorities immediately raided the singer’s home and workplace to investigate. Sources added that the investigation decided to close the case after ensuring IU’s safety.
At the time, the representative of the singer born in 1993 stated: “It is true that IU received a death threat letter. She was filming at the time, and the matter was closed after authorities found no unusual signs. However, our company will continue to take measures to protect IU.”
IU’s side further revealed that they initially intended to keep the death threats from the press: “We carefully considered whether or not to release this news because we were concerned that the incident could cause fans to worry and create a public uproar. After careful consideration, we decided to make everything public to prevent similar incidents and to send a deterrent message to those who intend to harm artists.”
