With the first two episodes of Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty now streaming on Prime Video since July 16, 2025, fans are asking what comes next. This epic mega-sized final season will conclude the story of Belly, revealing which of the Fisher brothers she will choose.

Though Jenny Han and the third season will wrap up the trilogy, there remains mounting curiosity about spin-off potential. While no official confirmation is there yet, read on to know what the chances are of us getting a spin-off.

Will There Be a Summer I Turned Pretty Spin-off?

The Summer I Turned Pretty has turned out to be one of the most popular Prime Video series. Based on the books by Jenny Han, the last season of the series is already here, with the finale premiering on September 17.

But fans are wondering if we will get a spin-off, beyond the story told in Han’s three-book trilogy. The author, co-showrunner, and executive producer of the series, Han, revealed in an exclusive interview with Brit + Co that there are no plans in sight as of now.

I get asked about it a lot. And I just say like, no, there’s no plans for a spinoff or anything at the moment. I think if the right idea came along and everything aligned, then I’ll be so excited to return to the world and yeah, it’d be great.

In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when asked if there was any way we would ever get the chance to revisit these characters, she answered:

I love this cast. I love this world. I love the characters and so for me, I would always be really happy to return if I had the right idea that I was super excited about. 

When asked about a potential spin-off, the lead of the show, Lola Tung, remarked to The Hollywood Reporter that while it would be nice to reunite with everyone, it all depends on Han. As for what she would love to see, Tung revealed she would love to see a spin-off centered around Laurel and Susannah back in the day.

Well, given that there are currently no formal plans in sight, we might not be getting a spin-off soon; however, the door to a life beyond Cousins Beach remains open.

Reason Why Lola Tung Was Cut From I Know What You Did Last Summer

Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty were excited to see Lola Tung in the upcoming reboot slasher sequel, I Know What You Did Last Summer. Unfortunately, Tung’s as well as Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s scenes were cut from the final version of the movie.

Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson revealed to PEOPLE magazine the reason why this was done.

In every movie, it’s best laid plans, and then you edit the movie and you put it together and you go, ‘I love this in a vacuum. This is a fantastic scene. But it doesn’t fit in the movie.’

The director added that it was just one of those situations where it had nothing to do with Lola and Nicholas, but in the larger tapestry of the film, it just didn’t fit. Even though he didn’t want to cut those scenes, he was forced to because of the final film.

I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot will hit theatres this Friday, with stars of the original, Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprising their roles from the 1997 classic.
