‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Sean Kaufman & Minnie Mills Double Date With Costar Christopher Briney

Love and basketball go hand in hand. Just ask The Summer I Turned Pretty actors Christopher Briney and Sean Kaufman.

Though both Conrad (Briney) and Steven (Kaufman) are currently having their fair share of relationship problems in the third season of the Prime Video drama — Steven and Taylor (Rain Spencer) have parted ways, and Conrad is still pining after his brother’s fiancée (Lola Tung) — their offscreen love lives aren’t nearly as complicated.

This weekend, Briney and Kaufman joined a long line of celebrities who’ve started showing out for WNBA games. The actors supported the New York Liberty on Sunday, August 10, sitting courtside as the team faced off against the Minnesota Lynx. Cheering alongside them were Briney’s girlfriend, actress Isabel Machado, and Kaufman’s rumored flame, his TSITP costar Minnie Mills.

The four wore matching jerseys at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Like Briney, Kaufman and Mills made it onto the Jumbotron after the venue showed a short clip of one of their Season 1 scenes together. Before Steven had his eye on Belly’s bestie, fans will remember that he pursued his sister’s fellow debutante, Shayla (Mills). When the Barclays Center put the camera on them, Kaufman blew kisses while Mills opted for some peace signs.

Mills commemorated the night by adding the Jumbotron video to her Instagram Story. “Thanks for having us @barclayscenter !! Big @bigellieliberty fans,” she wrote, referring to the Liberty’s elephant mascot. The group were all smiles as they posed for photos with Ellie that night. Briney draped an arm around his longterm girlfriend for the photo, while Mills and Kaufman threw up more peace signs.

While Briney has been open about his relationship with Machado, who he started dating in 2021, Mills and Kaufman have kept the nature of their connection under wraps. The actors haven’t confirmed whether or not their showmance turned into a real-life relationship, but fans have speculated that they became an item after their time on the show. The rumors started in June 2022, when Mills celebrated Kaufman’s birthday in an Instagram post.

“Happiest of birthdays to my best friend <3,” Mills wrote, underneath a few photos that showed the costars looking cozy with each other. “Thank you for always making me smile.”

This weekend’s Liberty game isn’t the first time Mills and Kaufman joined Briney and Machado for an outing. In March 2025, the group went on a Cancun vacation together, which got fans talking again. More recently, on July 29, Kaufman shared an Instagram photo of himself and Mills meeting BLACKPINK singer Lisa. Some took it as confirmation that the duo were an official couple.

“THIS JUST MADE MY DAYYYY!!! FINALLY, MY STEVEN AND SHAYLA ARE DATING IN REAL LIFE!😭❤️,” one wrote, while another added, “It’s confirmed that people are more excited about Shayla being in the post than Lisa😭.”
