One unforgettable moment in Season 2 of Wednesday was Evie Templeton’s impressive performance of “The Dead Dance” as Agnes DeMille. However, a surprising detail left fans in awe and wondering: Is Evie truly a dance genius?
In a recent interview, Evie revealed a mistake she made during the iconic dance scene with Enid (Emma Myers). It was the moment when Agnes ended on the wrong leg and quickly corrected it – a detail many assumed was part of the script, but in fact, it was a genuine mistake.

Evie shared, “That was just me making a mistake. We had decided on the day that we needed a finishing position. We had been discussing which leg we were going to use. But when we did it, I accidentally ended on the wrong leg. Tim (Burton) yelled ‘Cut!’ and I thought, ‘Oh no, I’m so sorry. I’ll do it again.’ But he said, ‘No, it’s actually great, I love it.’ And it turned out perfect because Agnes was supposed to be learning the dance for the first time.”
What made director Tim Burton keep this scene in the final cut was because “this mistake accidentally reflected Agnes’ character perfectly.” According to Burton, Agnes is a character who constantly tries to copy and follow Wednesday to gain recognition. When Agnes dances, she’s trying to mimic Enid. And the moment she accidentally dances the same way as Enid is a perfect representation of her character’s journey.
Fans were left in awe, especially when they learned that Evie had only just learned the dance. Even though it was a mistake, it became an irreplaceable part of the performance, showcasing her acting skills and the quick thinking that made her stand out.
Fans couldn’t stop praising Evie on social media, with many calling her a dance genius. One fan commented, “Is she really a genius? Not only did she learn the dance in one go, but she made it look so natural!”
With her career soaring, Evie Templeton continues to prove she is a rising star in Wednesday and an unmissable name in the entertainment industry.
