Rumors are flying faster than Spider-Man himself — but let’s set the record straight: no star from Netflix’s Wednesday has been confirmed to play Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Yes, the internet loves a good casting buzz, and the idea of a Wednesday favorite stepping into Gwen’s shoes sounds thrilling. But as of now, Marvel and Sony have kept things completely under wraps. No announcements. No confirmations. Just speculation. 👀 Still, the hype speaks volumes. Fans are already dreaming about what a fresh Gwen Stacy could bring to the Brand New Day storyline — romance, heartbreak, and high-stakes heroics woven into Spidey’s most personal battles

The MCU's Only Current Way To Introduce Its Gwen Stacy Is Impossible To Not Make Weird After Spider-Man: No Way Home

It doesn’t appear that a popular Wednesday star will portray Gwen Stacy in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, despite constant fan speculation about her potential involvement. Reports about acclaimed actor Emma Myers’ casting as Spider-Gwen have been debunked.

Per FandomWire, a report claimed that Wednesday‘s Myers would feature as Stacy, with MCU Source (via X) stating that she was officially cast by Marvel for the role. However, with MCU Source being the only one reporting such news, a quick fact check was done by X users who confirmed that Myers has not been cast as Stacy, nor is she involved with the movie.

The eagerness for Myers to play Stacy has been evident ever since Myers started portraying Enid Sinclair, the colorful werewolf friend of Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams on Netflix’s Wednesday. Many have believed Myers has the features to play Spider-Gwen, given her build and how well she portrays Enid. Additionally, Myers has expressed interest in portraying the character, though she specifically mentioned portraying her in a live-action Spider-Verse movie. She told Elite Daily in 2022, “If they ever made a live-action Into The Spider-Verse, I would love to play Spider-Gwen. I would shave my head; I would dye my hair. I feel like that would be incredible.”

While Myers is most renowned for her work on Wednesday, she’s increasingly built up her big-screen credentials to potentially play a character like Gwen Stacy in the future. Myers most recently starred on the big screen in A Minecraft Movie, Warner Bros.’ adaptation of the titular sandbox video game. Featuring Myers alongside Jason Momoa, Jack Black and Danielle Brooks, A Minecraft Movie is the third-highest-grossing movie of 2025 and the second-biggest earner among video game adaptations of all-time (behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie).Meanwhile, a small-screen star who has been confirmed for Brand New Day is also the subject of speculation about potentially portraying Gwen in the Spider-Man sequel. Stranger Things star Sadie Sink was cast in an undisclosed role earlier this year, with many believing she will play a crucial character, whether it be Gwen or Mary Jane Watson. Sink has remained coy regarding her part in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, telling Deadline in May, “I see a lot of rumors too. They’ve been really cool to read. I love the Marvel Universe. I mean, they’re awesome rumors.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Takes Place After Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where a spell cast by Doctor Strange caused the world to forget Peter is Spider-Man, allowing him to focus on protecting New York from street-level crime. The Phase 6 MCU film sees Holland feature alongside Zendaya (Michelle-Jane Watson), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk) and the aforementioned Sink.

Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been taking place in the U.K., sparking increased speculation given it’s reportedly shooting at the same location as Avengers: Doomsday. However, Variety confirmed principal photography has been suspended for a week after Holland suffered a mild concussion thanks to a stunt.
