‘Wednesday’ Stars Emma Myers and Evie Templeton Reveal How Their Dance Duet Came Together

Fans can’t stop talking about it. The eerie, electric, and perfectly chaotic dance duet between Emma Myers and newcomer Evie Templeton in the upcoming season of Wednesday has already become one of the most anticipated moments of the show — and now, the stars are finally revealing how the now-viral performance came to life.
From Script to Spotlight: “It Wasn’t Supposed to Be a Big Scene”
When Emma Myers (who plays the lovable werewolf Enid Sinclair) first read the script for the new season, the scene simply said: “Enid and Isla share a moment at the Rave’N.”
But, according to Myers, the writers had something much bigger in mind.
“We started talking about it and realized — this could be iconic,” Myers told Entertainment Daily. “It wasn’t just a dance. It was a story about friendship, freedom, and being unapologetically weird.”
Evie Templeton, the breakout actress playing Isla — a mysterious Nevermore student with a knack for telekinesis and timing — agreed.
“They told us to just have fun with it,” Templeton said, laughing. “And I thought, okay… Wednesday-style fun probably means creepy lighting, dramatic strings, and something slightly unhinged. I was in.”
Rehearsing in the Shadows

The pair trained for two weeks with choreographer Lauren Bancroft, who helped blend gothic elegance with rebellious teen energy.
“Emma’s moves were sharp and structured — very Enid trying to impress Wednesday,” Bancroft said. “Evie’s character brought the chaos. Together, it looked like a duel that turned into a dance.”
The choreography was filmed under flashing black lights and included nods to Jenna Ortega’s now-iconic “Goo Goo Muck” dance from Season 1 — but with a twist.
“We wanted to pay homage to Jenna’s original scene,” Myers explained, “but also show that Enid and Isla have their own rhythm — something that belongs just to them.”
Behind the Cameras: The Gothic Glow-Up

The duet was filmed over two nights on a fog-covered set at Romania’s historic Cantacuzino Castle, which doubles as Nevermore Academy.
“It was freezing, and the music was blasting through giant speakers,” Templeton recalled. “We just kept dancing until we couldn’t feel our feet — and honestly, that made it even more real.”
Director Tim Burton, who oversaw much of the episode’s creative direction, reportedly loved the result.
“Tim told us, ‘You look like two souls fighting gravity,’” Myers said with a grin. “That’s when we knew we’d nailed it.”
The Fans React — and the Internet Explodes
Even before the episode’s release, snippets of the scene leaked online, sending fans into a frenzy. Within hours, TikTok edits featuring the gothic beat and glowing set reached millions of views.
“People are calling it the new ‘Wednesday Dance,’” Templeton said, “but honestly, it’s just a love letter to friendship — and a reminder that weird can be beautiful.”
A Dance for the Underdogs
As the show’s creators tease that Wednesday Season 2 will dive deeper into Enid’s story, fans are already begging for a full release of the dance sequence and soundtrack.
“I think people connect to it because it’s joyful but dark,” Myers added. “It’s like saying, ‘You don’t have to fit in — you just have to find your people… and maybe dance a little weird with them.’”
The duet has already been dubbed “The Moonlight Rave” by fans online — and if early reactions are any sign, it’s about to become another unforgettable Wednesday moment.
‘Wednesday’ Season 2 premieres soon on Netflix.
And if this dance duet is any clue, it’s going to be wickedly wonderful.
