Throughout the season, viewers learned he had accused the wrong person of a murder and still struggled with the death of his son, which occurred in the very same area. Yet, the season ended with Kyle making his final goodbye to his deceased son and Yosemite after he closed the long-term case. However, that doesn’t mean the series ends there. Now, according to Netflix’s Tudum, Kyle will return, but this time he will be in a new park, solving a new mystery. The interviews have also hinted that familiar faces might return.
‘Untamed’s Kyle Returns to a New Park With a New Mystery
According to the interview with Tudum, Season 2 will see the return of Bana as Kyle. He will still work as an investigator for the National Parks Service, but he will have a new park and a totally new case to solve. According to Bana, “I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of UNTAMED to life…. I can’t wait to take Kyle on his next journey.” Unfortunately, though, which park Kyle will return to isn’t set in stone yet. Generally speaking, IBS agents travel from park to park, and according to Tudum, the next park Kyle visits in Season 2 won’t be the first one he tackles after leaving Yosemite.
‘Untamed’ Season 2 Might See a Different Side of Kyle
Not only does Season 2 provide the opportunity for Kyle to explore a new area and mystery, but it gives him a chance to explore his own growth. While a major portion of the storyline contributed to Kyle’s history in Yosemite and the loss of his son, saying goodbye means Season 2 can showcase a much different side, or maybe even a healed version, of Kyle. In Season 1, fans watched Kyle struggle with visions of his deceased son. He refused to leave his home and lived out of boxes, holding on to the few memories of the life he once had. He was often viewed as brash or tough and struggled to respect the boundaries of his ex-wife and her new relationship.
‘Untamed’ Season 2 Might See Familiar Supporting Actresses
In the interview with TVinsider, Santiago mentioned a great idea that another season could include Naya exploring other parks and cases. This could potentially leave room for her to once again team up with the person she looked up to the most, Kyle. It is especially likely since the ending of Untamed Season 1 results in Naya losing the top two role models she looked up to in her new town. A second season could give her an opportunity to reconnect and learn more from the veteran detective. Considering she’s a single mom, Naya showing up at a new park alongside Kyle might be tricky, but could still be doable, along with the reintroduction of other cast members like Kyle’s ex-wife Jill Bodin (Rosemarie DeWitt). However, both Paul Souter (Sam Neill) and Shane Maguire (Wilson Bethel) died in Season 1, so their return is highly unlikely unless the production team intends to incorporate flashbacks.
In the end, Untamed turned out to be one of the most riveting series of 2025, so it’s no wonder they’ve renewed it for a second season. There’s a lot left to explore, whether it be a new location, storyline, or diving more into the supporting characters. Certainly, seeing a new, healed version of Kyle who’s able to put his son to rest would be ideal. However, that would also detract from the charm since he’s come to be known as the grumpy but occasionally charming detective. So far, Season 2 seems to be following the footsteps of the previous season and is already highly anticipated.
